This might get me some stick... I appreciate that everyone has different budgets but ski googles aren't somewhere I would save the pennies. Being able to see the snow clearly makes the world of difference when you're skiing. Especially on days with cloud, a solid high contrast pair make for a much more enjoyable day and when each day on average cost upwards of £150, they really count. I like many people started on a £20 Trespass pair and then cursed myself when I finally upgraded to some prizm based Oakley's, as I should have done it much sooner.

If you're really on a budget, then polarized or high contrast sun glasses make for a cheaper alternative. You can often pick up pairs of things like Sweet Protection RIG's for under £40 (edited)
