They say 1 inch sensor, but the lens only uses 12mp of the 20mp sensor, so it's using like 60 percent.... Which means the sensor coverage is smaller than some other flagship smartphones lol.

Purely a marketing gimmick, Sony should have done a Galaxy K-Zoom type thing with a mechanical zoom lens and embraced a big camera bump.

It's also not the worlds first 1 inch sensor phone, there was a Panasonic phone that did it far better years ago. (edited)

Been using mine since launch, unrivalled video and photo quality but you need to know what you're doing!

Agree totally that you need to understanding the camera setting. I have a Xperia 1 ii. It was not point and shoot like my Samsung.

I never got into sorting the settings hence I am on a Samsung now.

    Great phone as well

Thanks. That's 800 odd pounds (used - like new for 792 I think) I didn't want to spend, but my OnePlus 8 Pro is starting to get "meh" on me.

Well, it arrived a day late after the Hermes driver failed to read the delivery instructions the first day - an Amazon "Logistics Manager" or some such actually phoned me to reorganise. Hmm.

Anyway, "Used- Like New" was almost right. No plastic on the screen, but the label on the box said that, otherwise physically new and on Android 11. It insists on installing every single update in sequence (now installing 12 after two 11 security updates) rather than jumping straight to 13 like some other devices I have had.

think this phone is marketed towards professional photographers and not average joes like me or most of us on here. we we would never be able to use it at its full potential

Which sort of begs the question why sony don't add a decent grab and shoot mode. They're reallt limiting their sales here. I would get one of these if it weren't for that. (edited)

This looks like a bargain compared to its RRP. But the phone shouldn't be this expensive to begin with specially if you looks at the competition. Cold from me.

Maybe the tech inside it is too complex for a lot of people who just want simple things. (edited)

Pixel 7 sensor is 1/1.3, which is roughly the same as the 1" when factoring it only uses 60%. As others have said, a gimmick. It does have a sd-card slot though, but since Pixel 7 is now available in 256gb that benefit is diminished.
