Well.. after many crappy "gaming" chairs have been shared here, if you want to dive into real chair category, my eyes caught this Steelcase Series 1 chair with the headrest on Amazon.

Click %10 voucher and it comes down to £396.86.

Even during prime day sale these chairs didn't go below £550. Under 400 is a nice catch if you're after a brand new proper chair. It's not the top notch, except those plastic armrests you can feel the Steelcase quality.

Comes with 5 years of warranty btw.

ps: ignore the £5 promotion, it's on my account.

I'm biased (Steelcase Please V2 owner) but if you're in the market for a chair and have this £££ to spare, you won't regret a Steelcase.

Changed my life by alleviating my back pain, etc.

I also think it's rather sophisticated looking and beautiful (as are all their products)! (edited)

There are also loads of used office furniture retailers around. Google maps finds them.

I've had enough of cheap office chairs that only last a couple of years before the foam bases lose any comfort or the fake/bonded leather disintegrates.
I've had far more success buying used but high quality office chairs.

If you want new, I think one Steelcase that lasts over 10 years will be cheaper than 3 or 4 cheap chairs that don't last. (edited)

They call it planned obsolescence. Why use cold foam in seats instead of memory foam which is only a few pounds more. They know cold foam permanently compresses after a while and you'll want a new chair. That's why I always buy a memory foam cushion £15.

Hot. Have a Steelcase Think in my home office and is a quality chair.

I really want a good office chair but just cannot justify such a high cost before trying one out first. Is there anywhere where you can try out Steelcase chairs? Thank you. Also would you advise buying second hand office chairs if refurbed.

Hunts Office if you're near. That's where I bought my Stealcase Gesture. They are the official UK retailers too so it comes with 12 year warranty. Not sure if the same would be the case for this one as it's a much cheaper model.

I’ve got a Razer Enki X still in the box, unopened. I was waiting to move house to set it up but now this is tempting me. How would this seriously compare?

Also the black version is slightly cheaper albeit without headrest, can you buy the headrest separately? (edited)

Every “gaming” chair, no matter it’s enki, iskur etc., out there with a look of rally car seat is complete garbage like rgb leds just to trick kids and rip their parents off.
You gotta get rid of it asap and invest on something like this if you care about your posture, back, health.. you name it.
The real chair consists “gaming” in its name is Herman Miller Embody “Gaming” chair. Its “gaming” trick was added after a collaboration with Logitech on specific colors. Otherwise, it was already there for many years.

edit: you can buy the headrest separately but need to search for a bit and it’s gonna cost quiet a lot for sure. Probably over £100. (edited)

It's a bit on the ugly side.

4D arms? Is it a Time Machine?
    ondert's avatar

probably they're the 4D which is an extra option normally. In the description it says:

    Armrests

The height of the armrests can be adjusted - from 200 mm to 300 mm above the seat surface. The armrests can be adjusted to the following angles: -40 °, 0 ° and + 40 °.

You can get pretty amazing deals on refurbished or second hand chairs all over the place, including gumtree and ebay. I got a Herman Miller Aeron last year for a few hundred.

You have to remove somebody else's body stank from it though.

I think it looks decent and sick of my chair with padding gone making my arse numb. Bought. Small but functional and looks good with my white desk.

I think so too, esp as that one you've linked to is without the headrest too

Very mixed reviews of this chair on Amazon I would suggest you check those reviews first before you buy this chair!

I was kind of interested until i read the same, chairs always seem to divide opinion though

I've got a Steelcase Gesture and it's incredible

Did you buy new? 2nd hand? I've tried this chair and it's the best Steelcase for me.

    herman miller vs steelcase ???

    Which one is better ?
    ondert's avatar

depends on the model, I'm rocking a 25 year old Herman Miller Aeron and it's still doing perfect. For longevity HM might be better but for comfort Steelcase could be forward. All mesh chairs may not be suitable for everyone.

Switching my office chair for a yoga ball was the best thing I did for my back pain. This looks like an great chair but I'm worried it won't beat the ball
    the_fury_2000's avatar
Pretty much every bit of scientific evidence says yoga balls are worse for your back.
I’m not about about to trust quackery when it comes to my spine. And neither should anyone else….your anecdote is pretty dangerous advice for anyone to follow.

for me it looks much better than all black chair and it should fit with a white/oak table

I have this chair and it is very comfy, I tried the HERMAN MILLER Aeron first and that dug into my under-thighs (is that a word?). This has a comfortable cushion (edited)

I have a Steelcase leap V2 which I bought for £150 before the working from home explosion in office prices. Best chair ever!

I have a used Herman miller aeron. They go on ebay for cheaper than this for used. Have posture problems and I'd recommend it over this. Unbelievable comfort
    deleted1945554's avatar
Indeed. Although worth being careful when purchasing a used Aeron as completely different setup/model to the Aeron RM [aka remastered].

If in doubt, google it or post questions here as even used models aren't cheap and easy to get your fingers burned by paying well over the odds.

good price, bought one like this 3 years ago for 420 quids so considering inflation
  22. vini69's avatar
Price back upto £689 but you can still get the 10% off....
  23. vini69's avatar
Did any one else get delivery but with wrong seat colour - dark grey instead of moleskin?
  24. deleted1949126's avatar
Can I have some opinions from those who bought it? I'm particularly interested in whether you think the foam pad will last many years.
    BraddersJ's avatar
My Steelcase Please V2 isn't particularly worn and I think it's possibly 8-10 years old (I got it second hand 4 years ago).

    Steelcase are built to last
