@Sarden84 Any 5600x + Mobo combo's you've seen lately? Looking to update an old rig. Thanks

Ones that come part of a package done n dusted; not with against the price of the low cpus atm worth it.
do keep an eye on them, but nothing stands out.

could ask palicomp for one 5600x/B550M-K as that seems to be one of their fav to clear, otherwise the likes of AWD do them but there more cost then part basis atm.

    Thanks Pal.
Original plan was do: 5700X at first but recap back lol.

The 5600X will still offer an excellent performance under 4070TI and i can recap back with the GPU too.

    Ryzen 5 5600X is a 6Core 12Thread
    # +40 is the ryzen 7 5700X that is a 8Core 16Thread.

I thought it was a fancy speaker!

thoughts on whether prices will continue to drop over the next few months? I want to buy a gaming PC but happy to wait.

    Anyone recommend a z690 board, building a i7-13700k rig?
    fishmaster's avatar
To answer that need more information and here is why >

The i7-13700K is overkill for gaming so this raises the question what is the purpose of this build? Sure it could be for primarily gaming but the presumption is it might not be. If it's mainly productivity then what I/O and number of I/O do you require? Do you need Thunderbolt 4 or USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 support? How many M.2 ports do you require?

There are feature comparison charts such as this one from MSI >

    download.msi.com/arc…pdf

So in summary what is the primary function of the build? What features do you require to optimise your workload and will it allow for future expansion especially in terms of productivity.

This seems a tempting deal. How much more future proofed is the ddr5 version?

Was only looking at 4060ti level of computer, seen any good ones sarden? Although you’ve got me tempted with this

This current deal uses AM4 socket which is end of line. You can upgrade the CPU in future, for gaming the best on the platform is the 5800X3D. That's it for upgrades. you could go for more RAM but that will be very cheap for quite some time.

Future proofing is not a straight forward thing, for gaming AM4 currently caters for every gamer. If this is your budget now you'll get use out of it now and you have RAM and CPU upgrades available on the platform albeit of a limited nature. AM5 does offer a lot more future upgrade options but you'll probably find that sticking a 5800X3D in this and doubling the RAM will do you and you could squeeze 3 - 5 years AAA gaming out of this.

    Summary :

AM4 - End of line but some upgrades still possible RAM and CPU
AM5 - Current a bit more expensive but the gap now is nowhere near as wide.

If you really are obsessed with future proofing then AM5 and LGA1700 are the current best options with LGA1851 not arriving until 2024. However if this is your budget and you can use this now then this is usually the best time to buy.
