If your going to disney i would avoid melbourne airport as on tui website says 40min bus ride but it was 2 hour bus journey maibe not as bad if got own car rental but orlando airport is much closer to disney

For the sake of saving hundreds of pounds I think an extra hour and 20 mins is more than doable over the course of 2 weeks

Flown in and out of MLB on my last two trips to Orlando. Super fast immigration and the drive to Kissimmee is certainly do-able, but the best thing is the airport staff are genuinely superb, very friendly and seem pleased for your custom. There's a new restaurant pub that was open in April and the beer cheese pretzel and chicken wings are worth flying there for

I ended up here for 1.5 hours in 2006 when there was a thunderstorm in Orlando and we had to divert as low on fuel and had just flown from NYC. The shortest flight of my life then ensued to Orlando when the weather cleared. About 8 minutes if I remember rightly.

Heat, cracking deal op. Usually way more expensive than this - definitely was last year in any case

Had a look on sky scanner can only see flights at £680 return cheapest.

Has this ended or am I looking a wrong thing?

Melbourne airport would be good for anyone wanting to do a cruise from Port Canaveral first or do a stay at the Disney resort at Vero Beach before heading over to the parks maybe?

How far is it from this airport to Port Canaveral?

Super Airport, arrived home yesterday. Really quick process from exiting plane to entering bus to transfer to Orlando. Just over an hour to International drive and 45 mins to Port Canaveral for a cruise.
Downside is that there is very little to do there. Our flight was delayed coming home, and we were there for about 6 hours. It has 1 small duty free shop that rather than take the duty off of goods seems to double it, making everything vastly overpriced. The food outlets seemed nice though. (edited)

We were delayed 5.5 hours coming back too but luckily we saw it on the screens. We had put our cases through but not showed our passports yet and asked if we were allowed back out and they said yes so we got an uber to the retail park not far from there and had a lovely meal at BJ's and looked round a few shops. Came back in plenty of time and better still we got £1000 back because of the delay so make sure you claim. As it went over 6 hours you may get double that. (edited)

Melbourne Airport, Florida is a place I can't recall ever hearing of! Is this a replacement for Sanford where tour operators / low cost airlines used to go or has it just been rebranded? (edited)
    cuddykid's avatar
Yes, replacement for Sanford. Haven't tried Melbourne yet but I used to quite like Sanford for it's ease of access to St Augustine up the Florida Atlantic coast, great place.

Personally I don’t trust TUI anymore. Check the forums loads of issues with changing flights, dates, times even the airport you fly from or to. I’ve cancelled and forgone a deposit on a 2 week Orlando trip with them and rebooked with Virgin.

"cancelled and forgone a deposit", that's insane! Most of these disruptions are as a result of the airports themselves, meaning it can happen on any airline. I have flown with Tui once and it was all smooth (could have been lucky), many times with Virgin and BA they have often moved my flights. I would always just go with what's the best value on the dates you want to fly.

My son and his mum are thinking about heading over in October.
Did a Skyscanner search and found two flight for £870....
Noticed it was hand luggage only (7kg)
To add a bag each, was around £400!

There are more places in Florida than Orlando. Flying into Melbourne is brilliant for Cocoa Beach, Fort Pierce etc. brilliant fishing and beaches. And Melbourne is also lovely. Prices cheaper as it’s not rip off tourist area.

Can anyone advise on the best way to get from this Airport to Disney, Booked a flight into this airport next May and struggling to find transfers under £500.
    RobKAHjr's avatar
Who are flying with? Tui put on coaches for those staying in Orlando or Disney and it was no charge. Presume they are exclusive to Tui passengers though? If needed try Mears transportation services.
