Great price, bought one for my son. This is a great size for the smokey joe or any of the kettles if only 2 to 4 eating. I did note in the photos they use 4 x firelighters! Only ever one required. Appreciate the search for Weber bargains, you have saved me quite a bit of money this year.

    Bargain at that price.

Is the bigger one absolutely necessary when using a 57" BBQ or can I get away with this compact one?

My worry is where I'll store the larger one as it's huge.

For a 57cm BBQ I'd say you'd be better with the bigger one personally if BBQ'ing and want a lot of hot coals in there, if doing lo&slo you'd get away with this size, but sure you can make it work for both methods at this price.

I have both, the compact holds just about over half what the full size one does, but I use it for the Weber Go Anywhere and Pit Barrel as this size is manoeuvrable to get down and tip the coals inside the Pit Barrel

They're currently selling the Large chimney with 2kg of Briquettes (starter set) for £27.99 the same price as the chimney starter without the briquettes amazon.co.uk/dp/…top

That seems like a harsh punishment just for missing the last deal.

Got one of these for my 47cm compact.
Definitely makes the process so much easier but I’ve found I have to fill/burn twice to get a good hour or so of cooking time otherwise it just doesn’t get hot enough.

In hindsight it would’ve made more sense to get the next size up. But at this price, it’s well worth it. (edited)

Great price for this brand. These are no better than the cheap ones you get in bargain shops. However, you'll bot likely get the bargain shop ones again until the start of next summer.
