I think this is still overpriced. Especially when there's rumours going around that the NX could be released as early as this year. I'd be **** paying this sort of price only for a month or 2 down the line Nintendo come out and state that the Wii U is indeed going to be replaced pretty soon. It's all pretty bizarre that we've seen the Xbone go for around this price, yet the Wii U has continued to remain so expensive.

The Wii U is hands down a much better system than the Xbox One. So I personally believe that comment is flawed. The PlayStation 4 however, well that's a different story (_;)

The difference for me, and reason I won't buy a Wii U at a comparable price to the XB1, is that the XB1 still has third party support and will have for the forseeable future. The Wii U doesn't have that.

Yes the majority of Nintendo's games are brilliant, and they're the reason I want one eventually. But with Nintendo gearing up to launch the NX in a year or so's time, future support will be even more limited than it already is, and one company cannot sustain a console software wise by itself. I want a Wii U for the games it has already, but there will be very little worth buying from this point forward.

Given the imminent release of its successor and the complete lack of any software support outside Nintendo themselves, there's no reason this should be as expensive as the other two, much more well supported consoles which have a longer lifespan ahead of them and are more "future proof" at present.

I'd have jumped on this at £150, but £200+ is too much for what it offers currently compared to the competition.

A Wii U with its two best games. What's not to like? Much, much better than that other embarrassing and failed product they pushed out, what's it called, the 2DS?

This seems expensive to me too. No idea why the Wii U continues to be so expensive.

I'd be all over this at £140-£150.

£180 would be the ideal price but £219.99 is still the cheapest around so I voted hot!

Whatever your arguments, fact remains neither of those other consoles you mention (and other historical consoles for over 2 decades) have been able to offer anything that gets close to competing with the likes of Mario Kart. What can one do? We want a particular thing, Nintendo are the only ones who are providing it, and they do it quite well.

This bundle also includes a really good shooter that you just won't see on mass volume generic 18 rated shooter games on other consoles.

It's not really flawed. The Wii U by all accounts is on the home straight as far longevity goes. Soon to be replaced. Whilst the Xbone is still in its early days. I'm not saying the Wii U is a poor machine and hasn't got a library of games that other consoles can currently compete with, I'm saying I don't consider the Wii U to be value for money when its still retailing for more or less the same price as it was a year or 2 ago. Considering the criticism the Wii U receives as far as support goes, it's only going to get worse now.

It's similar to Sony's handheld. It's arguably the better handheld than its Nintendo counterpart, yet it matters not one jot as its poorly supported and has been largely ignored by Sony. I wouldn't now pay a similar amount for the Sony handheld, that i may have in the past knowing what we know now.

Great price. I purchased one and love it. The games library isn`t huge but it about quality not quantity. There is so much depth to the games.
Nintendo have fallen out of fashion that's all. People just think Sony and Microsoft. Just like people think Apple when it comes to mobiles.
Think outside the box and you will be rewarded

If you find a good price for a Pro controller then yes, the controller lasts ages on a single charge!

You have a great number of games to play on the Wii U...
New Super Mario Bros u/New Super Luigi U
    Super Mario 3D World
    Bayonetta 2
    Mario Kart 8
    Splatoon
    Pikmin 3

I think this is more than enough of absolute quality gaming for someone to get their teeth into if deciding to buy a Wii U

I like my Wii U and I'm a huge fan of Nintendo's first party stable of games, I think their quality is unmatched. However sometimes it does get a little disillusioning knowing there isn't a great deal else available or upcoming. If you buy a Wii U now, you probably will have played all that's worth playing within 6-8 months.

I think this is a good deal though, Mario Kart and Splatoon are probably worth around £50 together, so the console itself is perhaps closer to the price point people think it should be at.

Just to throw in a few other titles of interest perhaps:

Sonic Boom Rise of the Lyrics (not sure if it got released here in UK, but easily bought)
    Sonic All Stars Racing
007 Legends (not played or seen yet myself, but looks good?)
Just Dance 2016 and previous versions I guess
    Mario & Sonic Olympics 2016
    Toki Tori
    Shovel Knight
    Wii U Party Games
    Game & Wario
    Monster Hunter 3
    Dr Luigi
    Mario v DK Tipping Stars

sometime this year Nintendo WILL officially announce their next console aka the NX..it will be a complete different console than Wii & Wii U.and it will most likely be available to purchase either end of this year or early next year.

Wii U was a disaster commercially,a complete failure and has close to zero 3RD party support
It has some amazing (but very, very limited..talk about handful) first party games, that imo every gamer should play.
the 2 games in this bundle are non physical, and they cannot be traded,or sold in the likely case you don't like them.

therefore at this time, paying £220 for this bundle is a poor decision and a bad deal.
    sorry,just stating the facts.

I have 35+ games for the wii u. only one lemon...fifa...but that was £2.

the wii u is a fantastic console with a very high quality line up.

MK7 is not too shabby! MK8 is MK7 in many ways, just taken on a little further. Despite having MK8 we also regularly play MK7 on our 3DS XL's at home and out. MK7 is similar really in that never gets boring (for me anyway). MK7 has really dated well, probably best reflected in the high retail price STILL!

Nintendo, keep the price as it is to make something called profit.
As the economy of volume has a direct effect, on the cost of manufacturing why make a loss, and sell the same amount, when you can make a profit?

All console see a decrease in manufacturing costs, hence the price drops as each gen evolves. The Wii U hasn't seen much of a price drop over the years and the price drops we have seen have been down to retailers wanting to shift unwanted units and Nintendo being forced to drop the price. You have nothing to back up your manufacturing costs assumption. Whereas I'm basing my assumption on almost every other console that's existed. Especially one that's approaching the end of the road.

It's good to have quality third party support but the best multiplatform ports are admittedly on PS4 than XO, so for the best console-experience of multiplats the PS4's the one to go for. I'm disappointed with the 8th gen though, neither Wii U, PS4 or XO are really as good as the last-gen was.

PS4 = Too many remasters from the last-gen (which were already awesome and in HD)
XO = Microsoft partially screwed XO's image and multiplats are inferior to the PS4 versions
WU = Lack of 3rd party games, not too many great games (wouldn't consider less than 20 titles a lot) available (physical games -- don't really care about digitals), yes I do believe quality is always better than quantity though there's not a whole lot to choose from in terms of quality titles on Wii U.

GameCube is still my favourite Nintendo console with third party support but I really hope Nintendo gets their act together with the NX/next Ninty home console as the Wii U was appalling.
  35. Dichotomy's avatar
It is always funny to read how polarised the comments are on Wii U deals, it is much the same on multi-format review sites. Bottom line is that if you want to play Nintendo's line-up you have to buy a Nintendo console or two. Don't worry too much about the NX, base your purchase on what you can get now and decide if that is enough for you. It is rare to actually find someone who has purchased the console to not actually like it though.
