Its great value at this price, but most people will need additional storage immediately and the proper storage expansion cards are £150 (1tb)
    WalkerboyUK's avatar
You can use normal external hard drives, and move Series games to internal as and when you need them.
Not like it takes hours to move stuff around.

Just to clarify that bundle does not contain anything extra compared to one in deal.

    Hi
Just wondering did it come with a controller or console on its own?

Thanks. Late night purchase that I can worry about tomorrow!

Don't worry about it. Earn it to burn it. 🔥

Eugh, I've been avoiding these because I can play most of the stuff on my PC, but it's starting to feel like I'm being rude at these prices

I got a Xbox series s recently from Facebook marketplace. I’m not here to say where u should buy from just to give my opinion on the console.

It’s small and extremely capable of running all next gen games and looks great. I’ve been very impressed.

It happens to only use a fraction of the electricity compared to a series x or ps5 so that’s another win imo.

Just pickup a external hdd or ssd to store games on if when you need the extra storage.

Your gonna want a series s when Starfield launches as it’s gonna be very sought after.
So get one while they’re at a great deal wherever that may be.

Mine arrived earlier. Slightly battered box with some tape round the edges however console itself in perfect condition.

Contained all of the cables and controllers all of which didn’t look opened.
    BarryChocolate's avatar
I'm really confused here, mine arrived no controller or cables/power supply. Chatted to Amazon who said they are not included. Without them it's not a great deal compared to new so i plan on returning. But if other people are getting them it would suggest the person in the chat is wrong. :/

too lazy to do proper research and I understand am probably old as i'm still playing games on my xbox 360 - is this Series S console online only and games all digital? Is there no CD tray?
    Darren_Gladwell's avatar
No CD tray but also likely companies will phase out discs soon
  11. UzerName's avatar
Is there any way to add an external disk drive? Maybe USB?
edit: meant an external Blu-Ray drive, something for either playing movies or (ideally) Xbox disks
eg, I've got a load of older Xbox 360 game discs (edited)
    leondas's avatar
External disc drives do not supported by Xbox. But you can connect external hdd altough if you want to play with its games first you should install them onto Xbox built-in ssd. If you buy official xbox supported external ssd thats ok it works flawlessly but not cheap.
  12. FreeIsMyFavouriteWord's avatar
Can I use Xbox one game son this console? My son has Xbox one and would upgrade him for Xmas but not necessary wanting to update the games too!
    pc5020's avatar
This console is discless so if you're talking about disc based games then that's a no. (edited)

Ordered this morning, arrived this evening. Perfect condition just one bit tape removed on end of box, my kids are over the moon!
    dannyzz's avatar
    Was the controller included?
  14. MontBelzoni's avatar
what warranty do you get with these?
    iSab's avatar
I asked Amazon customer services that question and they said 1 year.
  15. acm20001's avatar
i got my series s from amazon warehouse and it turned up with no controller, after speaking to live chat they refunded me and let me keep the console
    awoodhall2003's avatar
Wow nice! I ordered a Series X to start with from Warehouse...they sent me a set of 5 x 20L boxes...
I then ordered a Series S (decided to save some pennies), and it kept shutting itself down every 2-3minutes even during set up! Amazon made a fuss about the return, then said it a customer refused item and tried to charge me return postage! It was a faulty unit!
I've had plenty of warehouse stuff before and often very good condition and works perfectly, but this experience has left a sour taste.
  16. jcmb85's avatar
Get this in Dev mode and it instantly becomes an emulation beast
    Whiteside's avatar
Maybe for now but it was also an emulation beast in retail mode and then Microsoft nuked retroarch with an online update. If steamdeck ever does the same, there will be tears. It’s still a great price for XBoX series S so heat.
  17. XP200's avatar
I bought a series S about 2 years ago from £250 and have had no regrets, stunning little console, and if you are smart grab yourself a year of GPU from Turkey or Arg for about £32, you just need a vpn to redeem them on your UK account, but after that it is all done.

Oh and one caveat, get yourself a external HDD, i have a 4tb external gamedrive, allows you to store all your games, and you will only need to copy over the series optimised games to the internal. everything else will run perfectly from the external. (edited)
    Pyr0bi's avatar
What are the copy speeds from that external HDD? I download at about 100mbps so not sure if an external drive would be worth it?
  18. Woulfe's avatar
Mine arrived today, looks in almost prestine condition and no issues apart from a slightly beat up (original mind you) box.50452575-18Oh5.jpg

THIS is the threshold between HUKD saving me money and costing me money....

    Damn it.
  21. garabe's avatar
Was wondering what to do for Starfield as I have a PS5 and a gaming laptop that might not run it. This spread over 5 months is seemingly a good option, thanks for posting!
    iceburglettuce's avatar
I have a decent gaming PC and a Series S. I seem to play in the Series S a little more. Both are on 1440p monitors.

The drop in quality of graphics doesn’t bother me while playing at all (despite my internal protestations).

A game is a game. If it’s a good game (and if playable frame rates) it’s as enjoyable on a PC, SS, SX or PS5.

People do get too hung up on trying to max everything out.

If a game stopped at ‘V.High’ settings, people would play that. If the same game had ‘Ultra’ settings then people would like to set to that. They would get no more enjoyment out the game either way.

Series S is a great, cheap way to play games and if you have a bit of cash to stack up 3 years of gamepass for under £80 or so, then you are set. I’ve never bought a game for my Series S. My PC gets the odd new game in the sales.

The only problem for me with the S is storage. But I play on the Cloud, have older XB games on an external SSD and I did buy a 512gb expansion with MS Points. (edited)

Bit on this last night and just been delivered. Box though obviously not new wasn't in that bad shape, however the only thing in it was the console, NO controllers NO cables. So if I don't get some sort of discount it's going back.
    BarryChocolate's avatar
Requested a phone call, spoke to Amazon Employee and explained situation. She said would you accept a refund, I said it would have to be quite substantial to cover the cost of cables and controller. She said we can offer you a full refund and you don't have to return the item. Moneys not in my account yet but wow.
  23. john.keane's avatar
So does this come with a controller?
    italkapple's avatar
Yes. It’s like new so will either be sealed and new or slight damage to box. You will get console, cables & controller.

not sure why others are making it confusing and also not sure why you would want to pay an extra £25/£30 for games that are now free to play?
  24. GoldSkies's avatar
    edit - I’m an idiot

It says ‘Console Only’ when it’s in my basket. I’m guessing some people have got it with next day delivery, should I wait until tomorrow to see what people say?

love the S, have the X and S end up spending most time on the S as its in the living room, X is in the office upstairs and a lot of the time cant be bothered going up there. Plus the S is perfect for the kids playing on it.
    TheCostOfLies's avatar
Exactly my setup. I play on the S more, too

Have had mine for a year now was certified MS refurb with 12 months MS warranty paid £160. Really great kit and surprised to see it is still holding its value a year later.

Debating flogging my PS5 (Disc) and replacing with this. I'm a super casual gamer (literally a few hours every week) and generally just play local multiplayer racer or football games with the family. Not interested necessarily in the latest and greatest, and I'm playing on a 4K projector, so suspect I won't miss much. This with Gamepass is probably a better deal for me...
    KP5's avatar
To be honest, I’m in a very similar boat to you. I have a PS5 disc console, and I love my PS exclusives but I’m so casual these days that I barely play (and even less so, online with friends).

I did think about selling my PS5, but they’re pretty much selling at a loss second hand (mostly) and I’m pretty hyped to jump back in and play the likes of Ghost of Tsushima 2 in future, as well as some other first party games that may come to fruition.

The way I see it, my PS5 console isn’t costing me any money sitting there (albeit it’s not making me any return on my investment currently). I’m choosing not to renew my PS membership and will focus on GamePass for the time being now that I’ve pulled the trigger on this deal. I guess I could add a month at a time to be savvy with my money and memberships? If you needed the cash for something, you could sell the PS5 but risk buying it back in future?

Oh and I don’t use my console 4K / UHD capabilities, I’m using my 2016 World Cup Sony TV; pretty much just standard HD I think! Blasphemy to many on here…! (edited)

Picked it up for 100 a year ago. Great little console tbh. Only use it on a 1080p TV. But looks good

Microsoft need to hurry up and bring game pass friends and family to the UK
    Add_to_Basket's avatar
Will that mean your friends and family can play on different devices on the same subscription? Currently other profiles can access gamepass via your subscription on the same console (but can only play installed games, not cloud).
  33. Moody_Cloud's avatar
They seem to have hundreds if not thousands of these. Damaged box shipments perhaps?

    Amen to that…

It used to be 149 from warehouse many times. I guess a lot of return. Bought at that price a while ago- box is battered but console itself is like new. Resold at same price on ebay as lots of game available on gp are also available on PS5. I think PS controller feels better in my hand. My GP runs out in Sept- didn’t play much over 3 years.
  37. Cyrus_Rocks's avatar
Most people don’t have the TV or maybe play enough to get the Series X or PS5. You can’t go wrong with this console and price.
  38. bfar's avatar
At full price I think these are a bit too close to good deals on it's bigger brother. However good quality units can be found for an absolute song second hand - sometimes less than half price. You surely have an old HD TV or monitor which is ideal for these. If you can find one and can get a gamepass sub it is hands down the best value in gaming today. (edited)
  39. morty's avatar
This isn't a deal at all.

New black version coming out soon with double storage space. (storage for all digital unit is awful)

warehouse are second hand and the value in second hand market for these is £100-120.

This machines not worth it anyway either go for top model or dont bother even if coming from xb1x.
    Nujol's avatar
The black version has towards triple the storage space for games in fact.

Still at £150 for someone with no current games or controller this is an absolute steal. Fantastic performance at 1080p and coupled with game pass you are ‘sorted’.
  40. LukeyBoi's avatar
Brought one of these just before Christmas on a great deal, must say for £150 they’re great value, especially if you get a deal on game pass, gaming is so much cheaper than it used to be, it’s grea
