Not everyone's cuppa, however this is slightly down in price and I'm sure this will be appealing to some, especially if you have 2600 7800 cartridges stored away (be sure to give a good clean!).

The Atari 2600+ is designed to look and feel like the 4-switch Atari 2600, which launched in 1980. This modern version also plays Atari 7800 games, has a wide screen mode, easily connects to a modern TV, and includes a 10-in-1 game cartridge of classic Atari titles. The included CX40+ Joystick Controller has been recreated with the same size and layout as the original 2600 Joystick Controller, so you can relive the gameplay experiences from the beginning of home console video gaming.

Games Included:
• Combat
• Dodge 'Em
• Haunted House
• Maze Craze
• Missile Command
• Realsports Volleyball
• Surround
• Video Pinball
• Yars' Revenge

When the 2600 was first released, I was selling them in a big store in Leicester. We shifted 100's over the Christmas run up that first year. That was at £129 for the console and £29.99 for Space Invaders...

I’m not much aware of these retro units but am after a very basic games console for my 4 year old to play.. don’t want to give them Nintendo switch or else till they’re 5/6 .
Will this be a good unit to buy for 4 yo? Or should I look at something else?if not what should one consider ? Thanks

I'd pick up a second hand Nintendo Wii and then a few suitable games

From online comments, it appears that there scaling issues when using PAL cartridges. Also, the original 2600 had Paddle controllers and Driving controllers, which were different. It would be nice to see the Keypad controllers as well.

What would make this more appealing would be if they allowed ROMs to be played from a USB stick.

I was going to try one a few months ago (when it was down to £68) but decided to go ahead with using a NUC as a retro games machine, as the 2600+ is only an emulator using Stella anyway. Just need adapters for my original stash of 2600 controllers. (edited)
