I've had a SX since day 1, even got a SS for upstairs but honestly ... It'd a hard recommend just now.

I have a large library on Xbox but the first party stuff is not encouraging. So I'm in the ecosystem, despite also having skin in Playstation too.

The best thing I can say about getting an Xbox, just now, is that Game Pass is still a very good deal and regional purchasing is infinitely easier on Xbox, so you can get games a lot cheaper than they are on other platforms.

But genuinely curious where Xbox go from here. I think the AB merger may have made Xbox too big to fail, but without that... You have to wonder if MS still consider it worthwhile to stay in gaming longer term.
Surely there's already an eye towards the next console and maybe there's internal conversations about that endeavour being profitable enough.

Personally I think the market needs the 3 platforms to push innovation and keep things competitive in terms of pricing etc.
Remember Sony were eager to adopt the £70 price point. Without a like-for-like competitor in Xbox (I'd say Nintendo is more niche) you have to wonder how much greed Sony could exert.

Microsoft gaming is dying- MS has utterly incompetent upper management in its Xbox division that cannot handle game dev, but cannot be sacked either.

Redfall has shocked the industry- many pundits are now predicting the end of MS in the gaming sector. Starfield is in a much worse place than Redfall, yet is an infinitely more important title. MS bosses should have given Beth IP projects to third party devs the moment they purchased the company, allowing rapid development of sequels to Skyrim and Fallout:NV, but instead the MS bosses massively increased the salaries of the Beth bosses and told them that they would keep control of all Beth IP- ensuring both that most IP would never result in new games, and that the games under dev would take even longer and be in an even worse state as Beth bosses have lost all financial incentives to do well or work hard.

Every time MS takes over a gaming company, it's the same story. Only the Brit team behind Forza is still competent and capable, but the open world RPG based on the Forza engine is MIA.

Starfield is dull, with mechanisms even more dumbed down than Fallout 4. Like Redfall, it is always online, has DRM and cannot be modded (just wait til the PC gaming punters find this out- a Beth open-world game that cannot be modded is DOA). As Microsoft's 'mega-exclusive', and the justification of the many billions MS paid for Beth, it could not be a worse scenario.

Complete fabrications. Starfield isn't out until September and they won't be showing it fully until the showcase in June. You have absolutely no idea if it's always online, has DRM, or whether or not it can be modded (spoiler alert: EVERY game can be modded on PC).

I'm honestly thinking of selling my SX and getting another PS5 for downstairs living room lol.

Picked up a boxed, certified refurbished Series X off eBay for £239 on the recent 20% off sale.

There really is no need to be paying this kind of money for one now…

I paid £345 two years ago with gift cards

MS are so so bad at marketing. They want to now bundle the game with the console nearly two years after release??? MS, do better!

They seem utterly invested in Game Pass so i fear a top rung game is going to be few and far between.
