This is the problem with these budget brands not providing timely and lasting updates.

Mine gets regular updates and I am on the latest MIUI. Never found them a problem. Excellent phones for the price. (edited)

I bought one of these back in Feb/March, same colour too, and it's still stuck on MIUI 12.5 with no update to MIUI 13 available despite that being released last October. I tried to manually download the update but it still wouldn't install saying that it wasn't allowed. The white one of these that I bought last year updated no problem so I'd be interested to know if anyone with this colour has managed to get MIUI 13.

Can you not use a VPN to a different region and force the update

You may be correct about your phone, but can you get a better new phone for this money? Not judging by what I've seen on HUKD recently. TCL would be closest but forget about any updates and for me that's a deal-breaker (might as well buy a Doogee or something).

My experience is I've got two of this model and they've never crashed or froze. Indeed, out of all the Xiaomi models I've owned since 2021 (over 20 of them), only two have ever crashed and rebooted, and then only the once. Apart from slow updates, I've generally been happy with my Xiaomis, though software incompatibilities with work mean I no longer buy them unless crazy cheap (like the Xiaomi 12 Lite from O2 a few weeks ago). Bought this end of last year. Dropped it down toilet last week..... so bought this again! Got 400 points converted to £10 off coupon taking it to £99. Then used PayPal pay in 4 0% which had an offer to knock a further £20 off! So for £79 I call it an absolute bargain! My last one came with a screen protector and case too! Thanks op.

You can get it for £99 if you convert 400 mi points into a £10 coupon.

I have had the 10 Pro maybe a year and it did take a good while to get updates, certainly long after some others reported getting updates. Currently on 14.0.2 and the only complaint would be the camera is understandably average and really cannot handle reds. (edited)

Fantastic spec for the money. I ordered one using today's £2 Topcashback bonus, on top of the 2% cashback. Thank you.

It was a bit fiddly to order. I logged in. Grey was out of stock as it said 'notify me' rather than a buy button. I picked blue but had to scroll around a bit on my laptop to see the buy button.

Now time to look for a massive memory card for it. (edited)

Does this have the reoccurring SMS vibrate until you've read the text like Samsungs do? Any owners that can answer would be greatly appreciated as it's a must for me

I have a Mi Max 2, will this be a decent upgrade?

awful phone, very laggy with basic use, was made worst when updated.
sold it after couple months as it was just so annoying to use.
google the phone with the word lag and you will get so many website posts saying the same

That's the MTK Helio SoC for you and I generally won't buy a phone with those or Unisoc inside. The Dimensity SoCs are much much better though - I've still got my first ever Xiaomi (a Redmi Note 9T 5G which has recently updated to MIUI 14) and despite having the same memory and storage as the Redmi 10 2022, is miles better in terms of performance.

Is this the best phone for the price? Looking for something cheap for mum who doesn't really use much (if any) apps/functionality

This brand is both reliable and fantastic value. More importantly, the battery is excellent, which would seem the most important thing for ordinary users.

However, if your Mom doesn't need the smart phone features, well I'd imagine you'd happily go a price tier down for quite a saving. This phone is built for good enough app use across the spectrum, including moderate gaming. Hence it is significant overkill for anyone using it as just a phone/texting device.

Brilliant phone. I got 2 last time they were this price. 6months in, and it's had no issues at all.

Bought this for £48 over a year ago. Lot of offers used to come in those days on mi.com.

The price is OK but that is the exact price I paid for my daughter's 4/128gb 11 Note from Xiaomi on Amazon last year. Great phone for the money.
