Tempting, as a replacement for my 1060 3gb, it should be a hefty upgrade, i think ?

Look for an ASUS 6700XT with the promotion. It's a whole class above this card in performance and about the same price with the promotion.

To little to late just not worth it with RTX 4060 due out in a couple of month's
    MaxJenson's avatar
Which has a 128 bit bus, and only 8GB VRAM, whereas this 3 year old card has a 192 bit bus, and 12GB VRAM.

And, judging from how the 4060 TI is being outperformed by the older 3060 TI predecessor in a lot of games, I wouldn't be surprised to see the same with this, too. (edited)

Everyone will bang on about 12gb not being enough when the reality is there were 3 games that are pretty badly optimised with memory leaks and people lose their minds.
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
Even then, all they have to to is lower a few settings that make little difference to image quality and "Tadaaaa!", no more memory problems.

if you spend over 200 on this you are a clown

Find me this card for £200 brand new and post it here. Otherwise stop being a clown.

Cool I'm going to replace my 4090 with this as I better sell before the prices collapse at the end of the year..... Besides I've used my 4090 once since December for that Jedi game lol.

This is such a bad price

    When has it been cheaper?

I’m trundling along with my 8 year old gtx 670 ftw graphics card which seems to be struggling with games that use to run fine many years ago. How long should I hold out until we start to see prices come down further?
    Jonathan_A's avatar
I just bought a GTX2070 for £150 on eBay to upgrade my 660ti. I am sure others have different thoughts, but I can't upgrade the I5 6600 and motherboard at present so go together just fine and should run all those games I haven't been able to play (AC: Odyssey, Far Cry 4+) and more recent ones I have ignored!

Zotac a better card than the Asus? Asus cheaper after cashback and seems to be clocked higher

    hotukdeals.com/sha…203

iirc though if you ever need it Zotac’s RMA is, or at least was, UK based
    EGGY-PC's avatar
Zotac RMA usually goes to France, but they are excellent and you'll usually have a repair or replacement within a week, so don't let that put you off...

I got one of these for my sons new pc...

And the fans are rediculously noisy. Really, they sound faulty... In fact I returned one and had it replaced and the replacement is just as noisy.

Has anyone else had this problem?
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
If the case doesn't have good airflow the card will get hot and the fans will run at a higher speed to try to compensate (especially in the weather we're having at the moment).

My GTX1080 it seems will last for the next decade at this rate. lol

Good price for this GPU especially it having 12GB VRAM. Nowadays games are already struggling on 8GB VRAM.

At this point i would not advise buying GPU's with less than 12GB VRAM.
    deleted2679383's avatar
Games are not struggling on 8gb VRAM at all. There have been a few terrible pc ports that run like dog water. The majority of the user base has 8gb VRAM or less and have no actual problems.

At this point this card offers entry level performance if you consider 3000 and 4000 series cards, and AMD's 6000-7000 series as a whole. So it ought to be £200 or under as it's nearly 3 years old now too.

The used 6600 XT's for £200 on eBay are far better deals. As is the 6700 XT from ASUS for not much more than this. That card is significantly faster. 6700 is another better option. (edited)
    toge's avatar
Not sure if you can call this entry level performance...
50307776_1.jpgA 6600XT is on average 10% worse (edited)

    The year is 2045 - RTX 3060 12GB version is £225 what a steal!

Heavily considering just selling my 3060ti while there's still value and just buy a cheap ps5 for games like diablo and spider man.

Every time I turn my pc on I just stare at steam with no incentive to play yet another boring indie survival game or a battle royale rehash.

The gaming market is so stale at the moment it's ridiculous. Even wound up back on WoW just to have a go at hardcore but lvl 60 is lackluster since everyone uses world buffs i.e. legal cheats.

No hope for starfield as bethesda have never released a stable RPG and Microsoft are the definition of inept when it comes to any current or last gen releases.

Its nice having a 280hz QHD monitor, less nice having nothing to take advantage of it. Think I'd rather have a nice big LG OLED and actually relax with a game for a change. PC gaming takes itself way too seriously these days and the gamers themselves seem to be the ones suffering while Nvidia shareholders buy a new holiday mansion.

    Switch, totk...

Anyways, the 3060 at that price in the current market is a good deal.

    Heat added.
  16. NateDawg1's avatar
Just looking at the price of the 6700 I bough now back in Aug which is more expensive to buy now than what I paid for it then.

The prices are what they are just now and really, just now this is a good price for this card.
  17. fishmaster's avatar
I paid £625 for a RTX 3060 12GB which I still have. I wanted a GPU in the pandemic for folding@home. This price seems really cheap in comparison but we're 3 years on now and the GPU market and PC gaming is an extraneous faecal confluence of stupidity and greed. This card will have to keep me going for a couple more years and it will.
    NateDawg1's avatar
    It will.

However, 265 quid for a 3060 with 12GB of GDDR at today's pricing.

    That's a good deal.

Pretty sure the memory bandwidth was removed somewhat with the 4 series at this level.

Let alone the actual memory size.

Can’t decide RX7600 for FSR 3 or 3060. Not playing any games that have VRAM issues just few RPGs like Buldurs Gate 3, Cyberpunk DLC or Lords of Fallen later this year.

I know this is a gaming card but for those that know, would this be OK for cad/premier pro in an egpu? I get too many confusing results on Google about this.
    petermcgregor14's avatar
Checkout some YouTube videos. I would imagine so but don't know for sure
  20. Richard_Mathews's avatar
How good is this card for a Egpu for connecting to a HP elitebook g6 laptop via thunderbolt 3 for use in video editing and blender?
  21. Fnz's avatar
Apologies to OP - accidentally hit cold.
  22. ralphsawyer's avatar
its more than that... even at slow speeds, as it accelerates it sounds like its running without bearings, or someone has put a card in it like I did as a kid with the spokes on my bike to make is sound like it had a motor.
HUKD didn't let me post a link to a video of it being noisy :-(
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
Doesn't sound right at all, any loose cables that may touch the fan blades?
Odd to have 2 differend cards with the same issue, even if they don't use top and cooling.

I have used Zotac before and had no problems, but that was many years ago so doesn't mean much. (edited)
