Apple ipad with pencil....

Need a tablet that can take notes. Ideally convert handwriting to text too. Tried the apple ipad and pencil and that worked well but the cost is around £420 total which is a bit more than I want to pay.

Looking out for a black Friday deal.

But could I get away with an older ipad that's compatible with the pencil?

    Do you actually need an iPad though for anything else. If not try ‘reMarkable’ as a few in work have it and they take notes and do pie charts whilst in meetings and then just tap convert to text and it does it.

    Look at Samsung S9 line up as well. Or maybe a refurbished S8 Plus. I use the latter and it is excellent.

    Older ipads would be more suitable. As other comment mentioned - take a look at the samsung galaxy tablets. They're up to S9 now, but older devices have pencil support
