You need a brush. You can get some to fit in a drill to disturbed the bits then vacuum up.

A drill brush makes car carpet cleaning so much easier.
a mains vac is better than car/ cordless vacs and if you have a car kit with small and longer thinner nozzles which can get into the crevices so much the better.
Any decent car/ cordless vac will do if mains is not an option but use with a drill brush for best results. Vacuuming car carpet without a drill brush is hard work.
once vacuumed try cleaning/ shampooing the carpet then treat with water repellent upholstery spray, dirt and spills won’t be absorbed into the fibres and will make future cleaning easy.

What Dyson was it? Maybe the filters need changed. I've been using a DC08 for probably 15 years, used hundreds of times for hours on end, normally clean the filter every 2 months. The whole unit I clean once a year.
I've also got a George Numatic as my back up

Vax air reach does a cracking job on my car.
Wouldn't bother with proper car vac's. Never powerful enough.
Wipe carpets\mats with a damp cloth before vacuuming, loosens the dirt
