There are 2 main considerations. A ringer loud enough to hear is one thing but an earpiece which amplifies the caller's voice is another thing. Different people have different needs. I got these big button phones as they are hearing aid compatible and flash when theres an incoming call. If you add names and numbers into the phone it will tell you whose calling by reading out the name (although the name isnt as clear as it could be).
A couple of relatives seem to have got on with them pretty well.
