Two couples going to a shindig tonight and my friend can't fit into his tux so is going in a suit instead. Would it look out of place if I were to still wear one?
you should wear the tux, if he looks odd, why should you look odd as well. only one person needs to look odd.
Turn up in jeans and tee shirt. You're going to spill your beer and finger food anyway, so why waste good clothing?
If your friends make others feel uncomfortable or out of place for what they are wearing you need better friends...

I'm hoping There'll be a few but it's difficult to predict these days, that's why I'm miffed that he only tried his tux on the other day. Ah well, at least I can pretend to be James Bond for the night
