Not having a go, just a view. Take this money and spend it in a local independent cafe or hospitality provider. They are being crucified by the pandemic and if just a few of us targeted our spending there’s a small chance the independent sector will survive. Thanks for reading.

Article is confusing as one minute it say 50% discount across whole menu, then it says 50% when you buy something from "Deals" section which is not everything .

Anyone actually managed to get this? Just installed it on a phone that's never had the app before, signed up with a new account... No 50% off.

Edit: 24 hours later the offer has shown up. (edited)

Local independent cafe doesn't sell Big Mac's, Chicken Nuggets, Fries and Real Milkshakes (they sell the powder stuff)

Problem with Independent is that they've always been charging too much and the truth is people prefer fast food taste over a real burger with chips, I appreciate a proper burger but genuinely prefer a Triple Cheeseburger from McDonalds (edited)

already had a account, uninstalled and re registered with the same email but with a full stop in the middle. (examp.le@gmail.com) - it still sends it to example@gmail.com but mcdonalds thinks it is a new email. Do that, then allow location under the settings and you should have the deal, even if not a new customer

How can you appreciate a proper burger if you genuinely prefer a McDonalds Triple Cheeseburger? The only thing going for the Triple Cheeseburger is the price. Burgers are funny things though - even the crap ones taste ok.

Don’t go to McDonald’s very often but went today and after seeing the hot deal used the app, this was also in deals but didn’t take off 50% off the total. Haven’t had a check back in the T&Cs but it took about £3 from what I remember. Might be worth checking before using it.

Heat added, looks like you get both this and free hot drink for signing up

Impressive amounts of handwringing here, do you own a kebab shop?

Thing is, a lot of local "providers" are crap. Highly inconsistent, varied opening hours, poor stock control, unpredictable waiting times, poor food quality.
Sure, some of those apply to McDonalds, but you pretty much know what you're going to get every time whether you're in Manchester or London.

You haven't eaten a proper burger if you prefer McDonald's. McDonald's is good because it's cheap and convenient, not because it tastes amazing.

Tried it a couple of hours ago for pick up from the drive through. 50% off came off at the check out, didn't get any further than the discounted page. Went down there and they had no clue about it. It said that no payment is taken until after collection and that you "check in" at McDonald's, collect the food and it takes payment once done. The manager didn't even have a clue what was going on and said he had nothing on his screen. Anyway, ended up paying full price lol.

It’s off the whole menu. The place you will see the offer is in the deals section of the app - that’s how you check you qualify for the offer. Not really confusing as long as you’ve used the McDonald’s app before
  30. deleted755253's avatar
Always use the app never had a problem, I only have the offer of £5 off when you spend £15 as I've had the app for a while now.

Cheers OP. It worked for me. Downloaded on the missus phone last night and is now available. Both £5 off £15 and 50% off. Heat added.

The 50% off showed up until I enabled location, then it got replaced by £5 off £15. I'm not near a store that's excluded so I don't know why that's happened, but it's clearly not available for all new users for some reason.

Prime cuts of very ordinary cattle - the beef is ok. Hot plate grilled isn't a patch on flame grilled for taste either. It's like comparing Cadbury Chocolate to Lindt. (not quite Godiva - I don't eat Kobe / Waygu on a regular basis). (edited)

Almost lost the will to live downloading that app, had to reset the password 3 times because it wouldn't accept what my Samsung S10 autofilled, now having to enter the password manually every time.
If I don't get the 50% offer, that app is being deleted straight off my phone
  38. Stroved's avatar
Just ordered. The 50% discount didn't show up until I started adding stuff to my basket and it auto selected the nearest McDonalds for me. Cheers!
