Just a heads up:
The optimal spend to maximise the discount is £375 (20% of £375 is £75).

-Spend any less and you're not taking full advantage of the £75 discount.
-Spend more then the value of the £75 discount relative to the total price diminishes.
-Obviously if you can avoid spending and be okay - that's great too. Maybe even better.

Put the code in and got £40 off, so paid via paypal instead. The seller's not happy but then if you don't want to pay PayPal fees, don't offer it as a payment method.

Errr you have to accept PayPal fees it's mandatory, it won't let you list otherwise. Tbf you have stiched him right up and poor on your part for backtracking really, if you agreed on a cash deal for both of you (edited)

Get a friend to 'buy' your 'item'.

Even better if you have something listed from one of the recent final value fee offers, just set the price to £375, and change the category
  10. juliet_bravo's avatar
yeah - obviously need to wait until 12 to confirm but normally you can add to your basket (you can be doing that now prior to it going live!) and once you're done shopping, click proceed to checkout and use the coupon field bottom left. Don't click confirm until you see the discount you expect! You aren't committing to buy anything until you confirm and pay

So - don't use the Buy it Now button. Use "add to basket"

Coupon can be added BEFORE using the "confirm and pay" button giving you chance to check your total before committing

Any of you got your eye on anything decent?

so if I amend one of my £1 listing to £375
A friend buys it for £300 with £75 discount and I pay fees of £1 + £15 (4% paypal) do we make £59 profit for nothing? (edited)

just be wary, as i had an item in my ebay basket awaiting the code activation, and the seller increased the price by £30, effectively negating the ebay voucher discount - very poor shout from the seller, and lost them a sale

That was pretty stupid of him, given that eBay takes the hit for the discount, not the seller.

As twoJs just said, they make you have PayPal as a payment option.
If it was me I'd do the decent thing and offer him the £7 fees you've just cost him.
You never know, if he isn't happy with you, the bike might somehow get 'stolen' before you pick it up?

This seller appears to have stuck a load of stuff into DIY tools including video game bits:

    ebay.co.uk/sch…=nc

Not a huge number of bargains but a Move controller for £30 is okay.

This seller is also on the bandwagon:

    ebay.co.uk/usr…ace (edited)

How kind of them to give 20% off all the crap categories, what about the gadgets we all want
  30. deleted1863989's avatar
Like always, sellers increase their prices, this shouldn't be allowed, I guess you can't stop it

It's a really scummy tactic, they just want the extra 20% because they know the buyer will pay the usual price therefore making the offer useless for the buyer but useful for the seller

Is it just me or are the categories weird? There isn't a category called Home and Garden, it is called Home, Furniture and DIY. It's not called Sports and Leisure, it's called Sporting Goods. There isn't a category called Fashion, it's called Clothes Shoes and Accessories. It makes searching really hard!
