Ordered 6 and a new belt that will hold them on my waist. If this doesn't attract the ladies then nothing will.

    £45 for one analogue stick?

They could have easily made this just a £10 plastic shell for a joycon to go inside it with one of the buttons poking out.

Oh dear, please stop Nintendo, I dont understand.

It does do a few other (super gimmicky) things tbf. It has motion sensors so you can 'throw' the pokeball to catch Pokémon and it will then light up etc (presumably in sync with the catching process in the game). It'll also make noises and vibrate and stuff if you 'put a Pokémon in it' and walk about with it - I gather separate from the switch.

Does it add much value to the experience? Up for debate (I'd argue not), but it is more than just one analogue stick.

Chances are this will be harder to get a hold of (at retail price) after release than the actual game so just pre ordering this and hoping to grab the game either a bit cheaper elsewhere or after release and yes it is a bit gimmicky but I'll enjoy it at least...although explaining to my colleagues why Pikachu noises are coming out of my bag, is going to be interesting

Why is this up for preorder on Amazon but the actual games aren't?

If you use the drop down on the amazon page it says Pikachu and Eevee, isn't that the game? (edited)

Because people like you have that mentality! I am a Pokemon fan but am not going to be buying this over priced gimmick. The statement is still nonsense, you're essentially saying that because it's Pokemon they can do what they want. Its the way you're accepting the fact that, oh well it's pokemon they can do what they want. As gamers we should not be tolerating the attitude they can put whatever price they want on things, same as loot boxes. None of these benefit the gamer/consumer, the price points are far to high for the actual product/service. (edited)

It hardly almost ended them. They have insane amounts of reserves and the 3DS was/is still doing incredibly well. It'd take a lot more than a single failure to collapse them.

And with all the shady DLC practices we've got going on at the moment, microtansactions, loot boxes, pre-order content and overpriced collectors editions, I hardly think a gimmicky controller is something to be offended by. It will likely function in future Pokemon games, works with Go and has cute play functions. Build quality should be decent from Nintendo too and you're not being forced to use it.

Plus we'll get to watch lots of videos of people playing through complex games using only this one button controller!

Okay buddy get a grip pal, no one is asking you to buy it and if you cant afford it don’t buy it.

Do you have nothing better to do than try insult people on the internet You don’t need this to play the actual game so don’t worry yourself about other peoples spending

End of day i have pre ordered because i want one simple as that this is currently the best price from a decent retailer. (edited)

That's BS do you have any idea what goes into making games these days? And in all fairness the price of games hasn't gone up since the mega drive and snes days. I remember paying £40 for a 6 button MD pad for street fighter turbo

I doubt their design team just decided to stick a bit of plastic on some string one day.

A lot goes into the design of this too.

Sweeeeeeet!!! I'm so glad to finally see some info on this! (I hadn't realized that this was on amazon already!) I was wondering how much it was gonna cost compared to normal joycons (being as it is essentially just a pokeball shaped joycon for all intents and purposes). Both me and my daughter are really looking forward to the two new pokemon games coming out for switch, so definitely getting one of these pokeball joycons to go with it!

Many thanks to the original poster of this deal for showing us this!

Pokemon is owned by the Pokemon company (50:50 JV with Nintendo and Game Freak). Nintendo don’t actually own Pokemon. People forget Nintendo didn’t invent Pokemon.....
Also it’s a choice, this add on isn’t needed to play the game. It makes the experience slightly better (maybe?).

I like the idea but can’t see the value it adds?

That's not why they have done it. The Switch is doing incredibly well and the 'hacking' is yet to yield anything threatening. So what you're saying though is that because some people may pirate some games they are then going to put out over priced products to mitigate these, at the moment, theoretical losses thus making the honest loyal people compensate them Nintendo. Its a money grab.
