The adapter is so people can use old gamecube controllers on the console too tbf, hardly squeezing money out of them are they??

It's because there is less latency on a wired pad. But I agree with you, a wireless option would be nice for us mere mortals!

I think he's saying he would like to use the controller for other games than smash that might use it. But why would anyone want to play anything but smash?

Nintendo will never win, the vocal minority would never shut up about this controller if it was never released but I do agree it should have had other buttons and wireless, I won’t touch simply because it needs even more adapters to be used in tabletop

Can't be wireless for pro play. With Nintendo seemingly looking to move into eSports they have to cater to the supposed "vocal minority". Smash Bros Ultimate will be as much of a competitive game as it is a casual game.

Funny you say that because I've seen someone test a wired vs wireless pro controller on the switch and they used electronics to press the buttons at the exact same times and found the wireless contoller actually had less latency weirdly

only thing i would say is when the gamecube controller usb thing came out for wii u I pre-ordered on amazon only to find it got cancelled about 3 months later. With 3rd party sellers selling it for 5 times the price on Amazon...a pre-order on amazon doesnt necessarily mean you will get it so if you find another pre-order option, I would take it

How many people are going to use this on a GameCube?

This and every other controller they make should work on their latest consoles out of the box.

If you want to use it on the GameCube, then buy an adaptor

So you had one preorder on Amazon cancelled.

How many do you think they deliver

I have no issue with the pad or it’s design. It’s pretty much made for one purpose and lots and lots of people want it.

im tempted to get one so I have a brand new one for my GameCube.

As for smash on switch I’m a rank amateur so I’ll stick with learning how to play it on switch controllers.
    Either way heat.

Why not make a new one with standard USB, so it would just plug in to the dock? And make an USB to GameCube port adapter if somebody would like to use it with the GameCube?
I think the number of GameCubes and Switches it already about the same, so it makes absolutely no sense to make controllers with old port. (edited)

I suspect to keep the price down rather than design and put into production a whole new controller... changing adapter and them adding buttons (adding buttons would defeat the original purpose) would force the whole price up and these aren’t gonna sell at a crazy rate

the duke situation on Xbox one was ridiculous.

There are other controller options out there if people want them - this is for one purpose - it won’t appeal to all

there were a lot of pre-orders cancelled at the time. I could have placed order elsewhere like Game, but didnt. Stings a bit when 3rd parties selling them on Amazon for well over £100 markup. I know thats not their fault, but I wouldnt rely on an Amazon pre-order again - particularly when they are discounting it so heavily.

Chances are people will complain e.g latency on Melee.

It’s also possibly cheaper since they can reuse the old design/manufacturing process.

Bought one for the Wii u last year. Didn't get much use, but definitely the 2nd best controller Ive bought recently. Using the adapter on PC is a bonus.

Why are they still making wired controllers?? 🙈

Because they are cheaper, and give a better profit margin. No other reason. I can't believe there is a demand for wired controllers because people loves cables still. They are either a cheaper option or have a nice looking character theme design which is the only reason anyone must surely buy them?
