As a deterrent this might be ok, and if the perp stands directly in front of the camera you may be able to ID them. Have you ever watched "Crimewatch" and the cctv of the suspects could be anyone ? That's what a cheap system will give you. Unfortunately you need to spend more to get more as 1080p is not an indication of quality only of the pixel amount, I use a Hikvision system that I have built up and added to using used and new cameras of various resolutions and used 'enterprise quality' HDD's .
Also forget about the 40m night vision because that's not realistic on almost all systems.
If you only need to monitor a doorway to your house or garage this may be just about ok, but if you have a garden or driveway that you want to watch it would be better to reach for IP cameras and an NVR that you can add to if required.

Is this DVR any good? I have a floureon one from 2 years ago on gearbest but it's crap, it constantly gains time (currently +15 mins ahead) and loses picture to 1-2 cameras. I am looking to swap the DVR unit but keep my cameras. Thanks (edited)
