This compact and lightweight drill replaces the very popular DHP456. It sits right in the middle of Makita's 18v cordless combi drill range as it delivers more torque than some other models. but isn't quite top of the range, its very much a 'general purpose' machine capable of doing the vast majority of jobs around site.

The DHP482 is compatible with the entire range of Makita 18v LXT Li-ion batteries from 1.5Ah to 5.0Ah and beyond.

It boasts 21 different torque settings and a 2 speed gearbox giving you full control in terms of torque, speed and power. Theres also a handy twin LED joblight, soft grip handle with intelligent trigger and a belt clip that can be attached on either side.

This model the DHP482 has all metal gears and the in-built 'star' protection, that helps prevent this drill from overheating, over discharge and overload to make sure your drill and your batteries last longer.

I'm only after a bare unit and they was on offer over a month ago for £125, not a unicorn deal when I have makita set to alert, it doesn't show prices etc until you click 👌

Is it a hammer drill? Would ibe able to drill into concrete?

Highly doubt it. You need something hefty for that and probably a plug in job.

I'm not too happy as mine has clearly been used, it's either ex-display or a return. It turned up in two boxes which were boxed in a huge box. Pretty bizzare. There are scuff marks all over the battery, a pretty big one that runs half the length of it. I mean usually this wouldn't be that big a deal but it's a bit of an issue with any product that has a lithium battery. Don't get me wrong, it's probably barely been used but it's not exactly as advertised put it that way.Shouldn't these drills turn up in branded boxes not brown ones?

Same drill with the Makpac Connector Case for £102.

Yes, you can switch between 3 modes. Screw, drill and hammer drill. Also 2 speed options + different torque settings to prevent over tightening. (edited)

Yes but no where near as quick as an SDS will. And all Makita gear guaranteed for 3 years. So if someone wants a drill and does not have one is a good deal. Much better than the usual stuff that is pushed at easter by the DIY houses. (edited)

Yeah seems a great price. Brushed, slightly meatier version of the 485 from the same guys, but £20 cheaper.

    Bag is decent quality. (edited)

Thanks for your reply, I ended up buying the Makita 485 that was posted a few days back, thought it was good value as it included the bits set which maybe a cheap one but I don't have any so it's good to start of with.

Should serve you well, I have a Makita combi that is approx 11 years old and still going strong. Thought it died a few months ago but the brushes had just worn out, £5 on some new ones and back in action

I've just had mine delivered and found something similar, although perhaps not as bad. Drill and battery loose in box and a few scuffs and marks.

I've sent them an email with some pictures just asking whether this is 'new' condition and I will see what they say.

I think you're probably on to something about the "ex-display" kind of tool, I don't think mines been on a jobsite but I also don't think it's brand new condition.

depends whether you have a battery and charger

both cost roughly the same once you've bought the battery and charger at current prices
