A lot of love for Beat Saber (deservedly so) but I would also really recommend Super Hot (VR) and Pistol Whip. Some of the best VR I've played.
  8. MetallicA's avatar
From that list I'd recommend Astro Bot, Everybody's Golf, Rush of Blood, Blood & Truth and Superhot.

I cant seem to get beyond the motion sickness I get from it within 10 mins of playing. Anyone else have this experience? Any thing I should be doing to reduce the motion sickness that comes with it?

I'd suggest playing some VR newbie-friendly games before progressing (Astro Bot being one). A lot of people get their VR legs by playing brief sessions, slowly building up the length of time they play.

They cost around 70-100 and over for something it was selling for £10 when they came out. PS do not produce any so the prices are high. You spent around £200 for the VR and then you need another £200 for controllers. I got mine and after finishing RE that came in the package I have to used. Over a year ago.

I spend like £150 on the VR headset including camera, Skyrim and VR worlds on a black friday deal 3 years ago and £70 on the two move controllers which is RRP. Honestly I don't play it that much but it's good to have and cheaper than an oculus/vive setup. No offense but if you spent £200 on just the controllers you are an idiot.

I have a psvr but would swap it in a second for an oculus if I had a good enough computer to run it. You have more games selection on the oculus but the killer selling point is mods. Beatsabre for ps you have like 20 songs and there's about 5 song packs of 5-10 songs that you can buy for £10 each. The oculus version you can just download more or less any song you want without having to pay.

Yeah he'll love it. Make sure you get the move controllers as well because they don't come with the basic VR set and he'll need them.

Worth noting Dreams now has VR support and is currently in sale I think for under £20. That has an excellent clone of beat saber on there and is an amazing piece of software. Heat for the list

Not worth it wait for psvr 2 on the ps5

Currently there's no sign that the PSVR2 is coming out any time soon. It could be 1-2 years before we see it. Just buy a psvr if you're interested in it (although personally I prefer my oculus quest over my psvr)

It very much depends on the game, some games I feel I could play for hours others are chunder city!

One that surprised me was Wipeout, I thought that'd make me feel terrible but I was fine. As a general rule, the less locomotion the better when you're new, hell after a long gap without using my VR for a while (months), it can take me a few sessions to get my "VR legs" back.

Would highly recommend Superhot VR for a VR newbie, it was one of the first and still fav VR games.

Superhot feels great when it works but I wish they had made throwing easier. For such an unforgiving game, it's really frustrating to keep dying because of something so basic

A fisherman's tale is not very well known but its a really charming game that is wonderful to play. Its short as most vr games are but very well done. Absolutely a bargain for 5.99

It's not dipped in price for weeks though. VR Ping Pong is a bit rough (according to Without Parole reviews...). Super Hot is great fun.

I'll second the racket fury recommendation amazing table tennis game they have nailed the weight of the ball and it's been regularly updated to now include online play.

I bought a Vive on release and got awful motion sickness at first. Used to keep a can of ginger beer nearby and have a big swig every few minutes and it really helped.

As good as the VR is, by xmas the PS5 will be out and I daresay he'd prefer that. It'll be at least double the cost, but surely he'd rather the money towards the PS5 than the VR.

There was that vr room thing with the little bots running around and little mini games. I have more but didnt really bother trying them after that bad experience. I was actually about to send it back. What about this astro bot game everyone keeps talking about? is that easy on the motion?

Astrobot is very tame in terms of movement, its worth trying. I would recommend some of the newer stuff rather than launch games and would say to try something that doesn't pretend to move you around. That way all the movement in game matches up to real life movement. Maybe try Superhot or Lethal, they're not too expensive I don't think. Blood and Truth does move you around occasionally, but there was never any hint of motion sickness for me

I only bought the VR headset a few months ago. Have to say my mind was blown away. Didnt think it was going to be as good as it was. Richie's plank (yes expensive for what it is) is quite a hilarious experience playing with family members. Astrobot is absolutely amazing. I really love the virtual world it puts you in. I've got RE7 but havent played that yet (edited)

£200 on controllers? They're regularly around £80-£90 on Amazon when they're in stock (and if you're quick enough).

I say Move controllers aren't essential but some games do require it or make the experience so much better such as Until Dawn/Bloody and Truth. Iron Man VR is definitely worth it alone (I got my Move controllers in the Iron Man box set - £85 - well worth it)
