    Reset all devices
deco 1 into port 1 modem
Set Virgin to modem mode and restart
    Setup primary deco

After that I connect primary deco to a layer 3 switch, and then my other 4 come of the switch but based on above maybe stick to a basic switch. like this Switch as l3 requires some config for Vlan tagging to work properly

If you don’t have any other cable runs then you can daisy chain decos so port 2 on deco 1 to port 1 on deco 2 and then port 2 on deco 2 to port 1 on deco 3

Then set the last decos up

Only port 1 on modem works after changing to modem mode

    Hopefully all makes sense (edited)

Maybe i'm as well buying three packs of these at nearly the same price. The house is wired with cat6 and these have a dedicated backhaul... you can have as many of the units as you need right?

FYI I’ve got the S4 with a cat6 backhaul and it works brilliantly. You can add units on as you need, yes.

I lost internet connection on both. It worked as a router though but i had cat5 in each room expecting to run in AP Mode.

I've had issues too, got a router with VM in modem mode.

Then these as AP, the connection is not always good and drops. Not sure if it's the frequency, the set up or just me.

I have these with Virgin, the house is CAT 5 wired for TVs, Apple TV, home office, etc and use the wifi for phones, tablets and a load of Google Nest stuff. I started to get issues a few weeks ago. Drop outs both wired and WiFi, found there was a firmware update for the Deco units and everything seems to be stable again. The deco firmware wasn’t a recent release, but think mine had never been done since installation.

I remember reading somewhere to set static leases for the nodes. So 192.168.1.50 for node 1, 192.168.1.51 for node 2, ex. I'm not entirely sure why, but try it anyway.

I’ve got the M5s but same basic idea:
VM box set to modem mode only through your IP address login
VM port Ethernet connection to the primary deco
2nd Ethernet port in deco to an ‘unmanaged’ switch - important to be unmanaged as it can interfere with things. About £10-£15 on Amazon depending on how many ports you want.
From unmanaged switch to any other unit via Ethernet cable (called a backhaul). If the wiring is not available they can be connected over WiFi but will lose a lot of the speeds.
I’ve separated the 2g & 5G networks by having the main Ssid as 5Ghz and the guest as 2.4ghz only. Only problem here is when the deco is in modem mode the 2 networks can’t talk to each other. My Sonos is on the guest so I struggle to control it via my phone on the 5Ghz network. Not a deal breaker for me but would be nice to remove the isolation between the ssids.
In Access point mode (ie VM hub is still the router) it can but I don’t want anything to do with the hub as it’s useless.

You have to daisy chain them e.g. only one connected to your modem and then the others connected to the first. If say you connect your hub to a switch and then the 3 units to a switch they will all try to be "master" and it won't work properly

I have these. Issues to note. If you use your virigjn media router in modem only 1 network port on the virgin router will continue to work so if you have cables into the other ports they just stop working.
You cant bind a specific device to specific M4 so devices can flip flop between them. Not an issue with mobiles are something but when you are gaming its rubbish. Supposedly there is new firmware coming that allows this but tplink arent the most forthcoming with dates

I returned my decos and picked up some eeros off ebay. Webcams very unstable as decos would not connect to nearest devices, webcam in basement trying to connect to base station in my loft for example. You are supposed to be able to disable mesh technology for individual devices forcing them to stay connected to the nearest base station (once connection established) but this feature simply does not work. Also if you look at the web UI you will see the cpu jump to 99% every ten seconds or so. I have a lot of IOT devices. The eeros have been flawless, setup was very easy too.

Have the router node the only thing plugged in to the super hub in modem mode and restart it. It should connect fine.

Why are you using double NAT? Put these in AP mode which will disable internal DHCP for the mesh system. (edited)
