    Shame
True, It's a scruffy, dirty and busy city but has its own magical feeling. And it's close to pompeii, vesuvius, capri Island.

It's an hour on the train to Sorrento, one of the most beautiful and elegant resorts in the Med. The view from the cliffs looking over the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius and Pompeii in the distance is one of the greatest in the World.

Are you forgetting the flights are from Luton?

Voted cold just because of their non existent customer service and dodgy practices. Sending empty planes without passengers that couldn't board it due to Stansted Airport evacuation last Saturday. Rebooking your flight without any notification whatsoever. Painful refund process via email because their CS is unable to assist. Those flights are only cheap until you add extras and they charge you for everything. I wouldn't be surprised if they start charging people for breathing in their airplanes, why not? Please fly with other responsible airlines and don't support the ones who are not treating their customers with respect. Your money will only make it worse.

Perfect flights for getting to Pompeii!

Naples itself is fine for a couple of days, the underground cave network is worth a visit and there's more than meets the eye with the city, I recommend taking a walking tour with a guide to get a feel for the place

Flying an empty plane to keep it on schedule may not be popular with the passengers who couldn't board and may not be ideal environmentally but it can make perfect sense if you're trying to run an airline. That plane would have had several other flights scheduled that day and if it was held at Stansted then all the other flights would have been delayed and the final flight probably cancelled as the crew ran out of hours, which would have severely disrupted the plans of the 100's of passengers on those flights, plus the plane would then have been in the wrong place to start the next days schedule, which would have impacted on many more passengers as well.
Sometimes you have to make an unpopular decision for the greater good.

That's my thoughts on most of Italy to be honest, but the pizza is amazing.

Perhaps not best time of year for Med adventures but tourist numbers will be right down. So beside the attractions surrounding Naples already mentioned, my suggestion would be to hire a car and take a 2 day road trip along the jewel of the Med... the stunning Amalfi Coast (just around the headland), which has some of the most picturesque views in the world, not to mention some of Italy's cutest coastal towns. I guarantee you that you will be more than happy to drive back to Naples along the same route just to take it all in again. Not sure at this time of year, but in summer we took a day trip boat to famous island of Capri

I’ve experienced Naples as a solo tourist and a travelling football fan.

As a tourist… get yourself on the bus tours and you’ll see some beautiful sights and scenery, it’s dated which adds to its allure, while the city itself isn’t very nice, quite industrious. If you’re going for longer than a day or two, take in the usual attractions like Vesuvius/Pompei, culture is great.

Contrasting opinion as a football fan… not sure if any UK sides have drawn Napoli, but won’t be going back again, rotten city at night, dilapidated stadium, horrible gangs of “casuals” determined to get away fans beaten up or stabbed for their own reputations. Avoid.

Just returned from a week long holiday in Naples/ Sorrento / Amalfi. Took the Ryanair flight from Stansted. No problem whatsoever with flights. Naples city is a different thing altogether. But his deal is about flights so
