Bought one of these last night. If you're thinking about how you can get it home, if you have an IKEA or B&Q nearby you can't rent a van for an hour for £15, which is what I did. Store staff actually really helpful in helping me get it out to a van.

I wasn't sure what to expect for £499 (£449 after using clubcard vouchers) for such a large TV, and people haven't given too much detail on what it's like so I thought I'd try to add a bit of info since there still seem to be quite a few of these left in stores:

    The good:

    - Physical build quality seems reasonably good, I was surprised how much metal there is in the construction, the whole frame/body is metal, as are the feet. It replaced a ~5 year old 4K LG 55" that was about 2x the price, and mostly plastic.
    - Interface is reasonably quick, I was concerned it'd be awfully slow. As far as I can tell it's using an MStar (MediaTek) T22 SoC, quad core Cortex A55 at 1.5GHz (though I've only seen it hit 1.4GHz, you can't read the max freq via adb only the current freq). Based on twitter.com/and…=en this might be a good thing for updates.
    - If you have your own NAS, you can install Kodi directly on the TV and it'll play 2160p H265 content no problem (I used Ethernet, YMMV with WiFi).
    - Plenty bright enough
    - Speakers sound fine to my ears - though the stand sits the panel high enough you could easily fit a soundbar underneath without obscuring the screen if you wanted to unlike my old TV
    - Remote has buttons for Netflix/Prime/YouTube/FreeView Play.
    - Turns on pretty quick, TV guide isn't irritatingly slow to load as with some older smart TVs

    The bad:

    - Android TV a little fiddly to login and setup (keyboards with a remote, not much fun...) - and the remote failed to pair a few times, took a bit to get it to actually connect. I had a new Chromecast - you can pair the remote for this too - "clicks" less so it's quicker to use if you do.
    - Android TV UI runs at 1080p, so some UI elements are noticeably fuzzy. It appears this applies to all Android TVs, until Android 12. Unclear if this TV will ever get that upgrade, and if it'll become native 4K if it did. You can manually change it to 4K via developer settings, but it causes some graphical glitches with app tiles and becomes noticeably slow - I changed it back.
    - HDMI 2.0 only, no HDMI 2.1 (so no VRR or ALLM)

    The ugly:

    - The panel uniformity is, well, not great. An inch or so of bright edges on left and right, and a couple bright/shadow spots that look like ill-fitted LED diffusers. Noticeable most on a bright grey screen. General "unevenness" to the picture when displaying a mostly solid colour. This is the most bothersome bit for me... I can deal with inaccurate colour but the sort of faint patchiness is annoying. (edited)

Isn't this a Vestel? Sharp don't exist anymore do they?

No not a Vestel, and Sharp do still exist.

Their TV's are made by the Sharp owned UMC factory in Poland. So these are actually Sharp.

Vestel do make products for the Sharp brand, but this is mostly white goods like fridges and washing machines.

They had this TV reduced to £549 in the Seaton superstore today. I imagine all store with stock will also have it at this price.

Thanks OP. Why don't all Tescos stock these, never see them when I shop? Perhaps someone who has one can enlighten us if they are any good?

Multiple size variants of these Sharp TV's in Quedgeley (Gloucestershire) with the 43" @ £279. I'm sure it would be fine if your not expecting too much

    £549 also at Blackpool store.

Presume this will keep dropping as they have plenty of stock apparently.
  27. Munkee's avatar
    Yeah £550 too in Glasgow

Really tempted at £440 with double discount . Cant see much more than another £50 drop in the cards but you with specific store reductions

It is in my nearest. I did comment but either mods or op has deleted my comment. They've reduced the ones in my nearest to £549 midweek.
