Tenjaku’ translates as ‘Skylark’, the much loved herald of spring in the East and the West in Japan whos song is said to represent true love. TEN (Sky) Jaku (Lark).

Tenjaku Pure Malt is a Gold award winning Japanese whisky. Made using only natural ingredients, 100% malted barley and pure, naturally volcanic filtered spring water are aged in bourbon barrels for 5 years to create a distinctive whisky that embodies the harmony derived from Japanese nature and craftmanship.

Tenjaku is created in the city of Fuefuki, located in the eastern part of the Kofu Basin in Yamanashi Prefecture. This fertile land encircled by soaring peaks, with the Chichibu mountains rising to the north and the Misaka range to the south, is renowned as Japan’s top peach and grape producing region. Looking towards Mt. Fuji and the Southern Alps, it is a place blessed with boundless nature, with verdant forests, beautiful orchards, hot springs, and crystal clear streams.

Tasting Notes:

Tenjaku Pure Malt is a rich amber coloured whisky exuding hints of fresh herbs, nuts and a slight smokiness on the nose. Delicate and smooth on the palate, wit a vanilla and woody finish.

Scotch in a Kimono. I wouldn't buy it out of principle that they are trying to deceive whisky buyers.

If you ever want to put that opinion to the test there’s what appears to be a tasting club in my local park.

Several guys stick a few bottles in paper bags and pass them around to decide which is best. They’re really dedicated, never miss a day. And spend hours laying on the benches deep in thought before declaring the winner (edited)

I very much doubt your local winos are drinking anything that could be described as "remarkable" but perhaps they are and perhaps why they're homeless, once you get into the upper echelons it becomes a very expensive hobby!

Looking around it gets some good reviews...

"Tenjaku Whisky, one of the freshest faces in the popular Japanese whisky scene, recently announced a new creation to go along with their signature blend: Tenjaku Pure Malt.

A blend of 100% aged malt whiskies, Tenjaku Pure Malt goes through a double copper pot distillation process under the watchful eye of distiller Kenji Watanabe, before it is aged in ex-bourbon barrels for six years. According information from the brand, the whisky carries “a slightly nutty taste with hints of green apples and herbs, finishing with a subtly smoky vanilla and woody tone.”

in your option - taste is all subjective right.
also to my point i would suggest to most they would enjoy an 18 year old macallan more .... just not sure if most could justify the £300 price tag.

I think I’d prefer a £30 - £50 integrity malt over most MacAllan, regardless of its price tag.

I got the white label version at Christmas from Costco, its still sitting there, it very light, subtle flavours. But if i was after a light whisky an light irish whisky is prob better. I would rather still drink a nice light whisky like glenfiddich, 12 - which is £27 in Costco I believe, much better

With a bit of research £30 - £50 will get you an excellent whisky, even if you don’t particularly like it. More power to you if dropping £300 on a bottle you don’t like is a non-issue, but most folks on a deals website are unlikely to be in that boat.
