This basically allows you to add a full size graphics card to a system that you wouldn't normally be able to (Laptop / small formfactor PC)
It is refurbished and does come with a 12 month warranty.

sorted byWhile this is good price for this eGPU and card, the main issue you will all have, as I did, is Thunderbolt 3. This will only ever allow 4x PCIe lanes.
All the supported cards require 8x PCIe to hit anywhere near their potential and the 2080, 2070 and 2060 require 16x PCIe.
Take it from a guy who knows. I bought the Razer Core X (same idea as the Lenovo) and put initially the RX 5700XT in and tried to play Fortnite and it was sub 25FPS. The 2080 wasn't much better - all because of the Thunderbolt 3 PCIe lanes restrictions.
I didn't have a sloth of a laptop either: 2.4Ghz 8 Core i9, 32GB DDR4 Ram and an NVme drive to boot from.
Luckily I bought from Amazon at the time so I could send the whole lot back - which I did. It was no good for gaming. (edited)
Not really necessary. TB4 mostly just raises minimum bandwidth rather than maximum so not worth worrying about at this point.
One of the tips they say in the "recommended use method" documentation is to disable any existing additional discrete GPU they have
Disable discrete graphics
To avoid conflicts with the graphics in LenovoLegion BoostStation, disable the computer'sdiscrete graphics in the Device Manager.
Step 1. Press the power button to turn on thecomputer.
Step 2. Press the Windows logo key + X.
Step 3. Select Device Manager.
Step 4. Expand the Display adapters section.
Step 5. Right click the name of the discretegraphics and click Properties.
Step 6. Select Driver tab.
Step 7. Select the Disable Device option and clickYes.
Step 8. Close the Device Manager.

It should be able to give u a quick view of each model. However, for a better understanding, more comprehensive tests should be carried out for a better comparison, especially with different setups, e.g. ddr5, cooling system, CPUs etc.

Should prob get educated on g cards it seems. 2060 Vs 1080ti, the 1080ti won't smoke it. 2060 is as good if not slightly more powerful than a 1080. Plus can use DLSS. Makes a world of difference. 1080ti is old tech. Plus a £100 more, for old tech that gets a few FPS more but lacks DLSS! What a joker!
No.
LOL! Reality check; https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_rtx_2060_review_(founder),33.html (edited)
You wouldn’t be able to play any vaguely modern games as an Atom CPU is woefully underpowered.
This really needs a minimum quad core CPU that is not throttled that much due to the laptop design.
You should check out the compatibility link shared earlier - it’s not a given that it will work with just any laptop.
I doubt your Atom machine has a Thunderbolt 3 port…!
Happy to be corrected but I don’t think a Zenbook S has a Thunderbolt 3 port? (edited)
Yes prob around 50% faster but without realtime raytracing.
No dude, 1080Ti smokes the 2060. This is a 20 game average lol
would definitely recommend eGPU
This is a weird response. 50% is probably a silly number to throw around, but you can get close to it with a texture-heavy game. 20-30% is a more realistic number.
The 1080ti is old, but it's a 1997 Boxster vs a 2005 Corsa. The raw grunt of the 1080ti still works today. The 1080ti is still faster by a clear margin. RT tanks the 2060 performance (so it's hardly a feature) and features like DLSS don't offset ones that work on everything (ie FSR). The only reason I'd consider the 2060 is the 90W lower TDP.
But if you need an egpu, this seems like a great price.
It might...
tomshardware.com/uk/…ack
Not likely. 500W PSU, and I think only supports 300W for the GPU (edited)
check out here
At this price? That's an unrealistic wish for egpu with 3080
Guess it depends what you play. Obviously will be better than a non dedicated GPU. From memories when I tested an rx580 in an egpu on my xps 9370 I think was very playable.
Thanks I don't play anything crazy, decided to order it and worst case I can return it and just swallow the postage costs!
I almost had a panic but I'm 99% sure - it's this one here:

Ahhh yes that’s good news!
That’s a smart laptop you’ve got there (edited)
Is a 1080Ti better/much better than an RTX 2060?
Do you know a good place where one can easily compare about the different models? I found it really confusing to understand what one is buying with Nvidia's naming convention...
I would have bought one my self but not much of an upgrade from the gtx 1070 on my laptop.
It's almost 99% intel devices due to AMD being against thunderbolt. Although the tide is starting to turn
plenty of games the 1080Ti will pull away almost 50%, like overwatch. Thing is 1080Tis overclock like a dream, 2060s not so much, so the gap widens even further. But yeah, this is a great deal. Heck you could buy it, sell the 2060 and buy a better card if you wanted its so cheap (edited)
If you've already got anything close to a 2060 in your laptop, this won't help much.
I put a 3.5 HDD inside for game images and the like.
The 2060 6GB works find with, say, Far Cry 6 in Ultra mode on the 3440x1440 monitor but runs out of memory when connected to a 4K TV.
It seems quite sensitive to the quality of the Thunderbolt cable you use and the short one that comes with it is only really a stop-gap. I ended up with a Belkin one for use under the desk and that's been stable. The no-name cables are a big "avoid". (edited)
