I would get the cheaper pack. Astrobot is on cex for under £10. It only needs ps4 controller and in my opinion is the best psvr game. Id start with that and go from there.

There are free demo disks to download on the ps store which cover a lot of the best games to try before you buy.

Edit: Also having a physical copy of Astrobot will help a lot if you want to sell your psvr later. (edited)

Well I love it and many other do. I've never had an issue with it being blurry, but then again I play it on a pro and a 5 and had the pupillary distance set properly. I play firewall all the time and many people who abandoned it for oculus have returned since. But each to their own. This is a decent price and well worth it for those interested. Clearly you're not! Just to add to the list of games: Ace Combat has 3 or 4 VR missions that are superb. Battlefront has a good but short VR mission but if you like it look at Star Wars Squadrons. Moss. Wipeout. Keep talking and nobody explodes. No Mans Sky. Dirt Rally - awesome with a wheel & GT Sport has a VR mode. If you can grab cheap move controllers then consider Blood and Truth. Beat Sabre. Hitman 3. Superhot. Without Parole on Youtube do good reviews. Doom and Farpoint good with an Aim controller.
FWIW there's a slight improvement on PSVR if coupled with a PS4Pro or PS5.

Mate who works in the industry has heard noise that Sony are looking to price PSVR2 at the £400 point, on par with the cost of the console, which makes sense. But won't be compatible with most PSVR titles currently out.
So if you're "Holding off" for that version, you're going to need a few more quid. (edited)

Anyone wondering which version to go for, it looks like the Mega Pack at £199 comes with the PS5 adapter, whereas the £169 you'll need to order it for free from Sony and may have to wait a couple of weeks.

EDIT Just picked up the £169 pack and can confirm it comes with the PS5 adaptor

If you have PS Plus, check your library. I already have Astro Bot and Moss VR from previous monthly games.

Loads of free games on PS Store and Batman VR is currently £4.79 until 06/06 (edited)

I still maintain the psvr is the most accessible and overall best headset, sure the graphics are lower than others but you can have a heck of a lot of fun with this cheap and amazing kit. The feeling when you hold your ps4 controller up and flick a little robot guy off the touch surface is amazing. Looking forward to great things with the psvr2!

Walking Dead is a great game for PSVR and Astro Bot is another good one, there are loads more like The Wanderer, Fracked, I expect you to die 1/2, Iron Man etc etc. Well worth it at this price, you could probably sell it after your done for nearly what you paid.

I just sold my psvr for 130 sterling. Had it since Christmas and went through a lot of the top games. Dont regret it. There are some amazing VR titles on it.
Get the cheaper version and buy:
    - Astrobot (Sony's Mario - psvr exclusive - we have a quest 2 and Astrobot is still my favourite all time VR game)
    - Walking Dead
    - The Room VR
    - Red Matter
    - Thumper
    - Rez Infinite
    - The Persistence
    - Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
Lots of VR games for younger players too: Minecraft, Recroom, The Playroom VR.... (edited)

Exactly. Theres a massive library of psvr games that can be picked up cheaply now and enjoyed before PSVR2. Definitely worth the sale price here. Another gem I found was Statik. A unique mystery puzzle game. Really good.

I've not really used mine much due to motion sickness, which is weird considering all the the s##t I can do in real life and not experience it
But despite all the jokes about Skyrim having a million releases over the last decade, I have to say experiencing that in VR was a pleasant surprise. Still very blocky on world environment, but character models really pop and it plays great in VR.

The bonus with VR on PS is that the games these days are fairly cheap and if you have a disc based model PS5 you can get games for next to nothing these days from the likes of CEX and eBay. Picked up Skyrim VR for £5 and it's brilliant. Oculas has the edge on screen quality and with it not having the monstrosity of cables that PSVR has right now, but at this price it's a great start for anyone wanting to get into VR. Plus even though the screens are nowhere near the quality you'll have on your 4k televisions, using the VR as a massive cinema screen to play just standard games on or watch movies is quite a cool thing. For this price with the games and the cheaper price of the PSVR games …For this price with the games and the cheaper price of the PSVR games compared with the quest, if you have a PS4 it would be a no brainer, then sell it and the games and but the PSVR2 when it comes out. I've never used it so I cannot comment on the quality. If I didn't have VR and wanted to try it this would be something I would jump on at this price.Heat added.

I own both and the Quest 2 offers masses more over the PSVR with it's Fisher Price controllers and web cam from the 1990's tracking tech.

PSVR was just about okay for a short period when it released

If you want the best VR gaming experience then get into PCVR if you have a gaming PC already

If not then get a Quest 2 and enjoy hundreds of excellent native games and experiences with great tracking

There's even a development hub called AppLab where you can try loads of free early release games

PS VR2 will cost £800+ all in and that's assuming you can even get your hands on one/a PS5

    Quest 2 is available now

    jco8330/05/2022 10:12

Something that people have pointed out is the price of the games. Cheers

Quest 2 games range from free (some of the very best games are free) up to about £25

If you're talking about £25 for something like Beat Saber then it'll be worth every penny due to it's replayability

Anyway the reason that some games are £25 is because they are new. They're soon available cheaper in sales

PSVR games are also £25+ when they first come out

PS VR2 games will probably be more like £30 - £60 depending on the title (flat to VR hybrid games will not be cheaper than flat PS games are now as you'll get the flat version anyway)

So to talk about Quest games being "expensive" is basically nonsense (edited)
  25. R2Dom2's avatar
Just to add a note about tracking and cables. The PSVR works best if the camera that's watching you can see the headset and any additional controllers clearly. From my experience this means lowering the light levels in a room and making sure there are no reflections. I've got mine set up in the smallest box bedroom and have a blackout blind. But yeah, darken the room and consider reflections.
Cables - worth considering if you can suspend the cables from the ceiling! Appreciate this will not be possible for everyone but I was able to chuck some small hooks up and the cable (via a spring) goes up to the celiing and across to the processor unit. With it like this they're completly out of the way and not draping around or over the floor.
Other recommendations would be Raw Data - think Tower Defense meets FPS. Shooty Fruity - set in a super market, scan the goods to get weapons and ammo to shoot the fruit - it's a bit nuts but fun. Star Trek Bride Crew - if you're a trekkie. Vadar Immortal. Ultra Wings is a great flying sim but requires strong VR legs. However, all of the above either require or are best played with the move controllers.
Oh yeah, and a gripe... You can watch 3D blueray / movies on the PSVR & PS4/PRO. You can't on the PSVR & PS5 :(.

PSVR is fantastic on PS5 and PS4 Pro. Well worth it but the controllers do take it up a notch, even if they are nowhere near as good as the Quest's.

I sold mine and got a Quest 2. Great apart from the expensive games at £25.

I got a lot of fun out of my PSVR as the games are more console like; however Quest is a lot more immersive but also twice the price of this.

    Yes and yes.
The camera needs an adapter for ps5 that can be ordered for free from Sony using the serial number from the psvr. You can request here:
    camera-adaptor.support.playstation.com/
Mine took about 2 weeks to arrive.
Edit2: On the PlayStation Direct website it says the ps5 camera adapter is now being shipped with psvr.
Edit: some games like Astrobot need a ps4 controller as the camera tracks the light bar on the front of the controller. (edited)

Definitely needs to be a ps4 controller.
If you have the move controllers and a ps4 controller you are all set for most games.

There is a gun called the Aim Controller but there are not that many games that use it. If you really enjoy PSVR you could pick up an aim controller for games like Farpoint and Doom VFR if you want. I enjoyed Farpoint with the Aim Controller.

^^^ What PS4 do you have, if you have the pro then those two games get a nice boost in detail due to the extra power availiable, as do a lot of the VR games on the pro system, and also games stay more at a steady frame rate on the pro...........and yes, those oled panels in the PSVR were some of the best for their day, and even now are still great, and thankfully Sony are staying with oled for the PSVRII, which i will be all over on day one as oled is such a win for any VR HMDs, and should be stardard as no VR HMD should ever have a LCD panel in them, just horrible to the core with grey blacks and washed out colours(Shudders thinking of the Quest II and Elite Dangerous covered in a grey haze thanks to that lcd panel in the Quest II). lol

Oh and here is a little tip in these insane times of high utility bills.....the PS4 Pro has a power consumtion of 165w gaming, and the PSVR has 20w while gaming....so lets round that up to 190w.......so if you use your PSVR HMD to play all your games 2d and VR, instead of say your 100W 50in LCD tv, your saving 100w a hour....nice right. lol (edited)

Blood and Truth on the collection is great.

Other PSVR games that are worth your time

Wiepout Omega Collection. Anti gravity combat racing done in VR. Tremendous fun in VR course design and fairly combative opponents keep it fun.

Tetris Effect. Tetris combined with a lightshow and an eclectic soundtrack where your movements add a layer of sound to the music. Sound and vision combine to a great effect (Development led by Tetsuya Mizuguchi who created Rez, Child of Eden and Lumines

Rez Infinite. Rhythm based on rail shooter a real cult classic from the Dreamcast

Seirento. Short but very well made action game, fun weaponry, responsive controls. Does require Two Move controllers however

Superhot. Puzzle/First Person Shooter. The enemies only move and shot when you move, requires planning.

Ace Combat Skies Unknown. Only has a few VR missions but they do leave an impression. Aside from that though it is a very well made Dogfighting game. Story was surprisingly engaging and enjoyable. Still seems to have a small but active multiplayer scene.

Holo Ball. Fun squash like game but not to much more than that. Worth buying if you can get it for a few pounds and you have Move Controllers

Heard good things about but haven't personally played

Moss, Astro Bot, Beat Saber, Resident Evil (edited)
