Still seems expensive to me. Brent crude is now back where it was before the Ukraine war broke out. I paid 149p for diesel the day the war started. We've had 6p off in fuel duty since then so 143p. Only other variable is the exchange rate, which is down around 10% since then. So diesel should be around 157p right now? Petrol is usually around 8p cheaper than diesel so around 149p for that.

At least prices are finally going in the right direction but I wouldn't advise topping up more than £10-15 at a time until prices are reasonable again.

do you need a specific membership or the "individual" one is enough?

    Individual is good

Its quite strange how members might look at this price and think to themselves "wow thats cheap"
And compared to other places it is CHEAPER... but far from cheap
    aandyr123's avatar
then nothing is cheap is it?
I've just got a great bargain on my car. But you could buy cars much cheaper in the olden days. So in your explanation, my car wasn't cheap.
I managed to get 50% off some tickets for a day out with the kids. Cheap? No! My mum bought tickets for the same place, when I was a kid, for much cheaper.
The new FIFA on the xbox can be got for 70% off! Nah, that's not cheap. I used to buy games for my spectrum for £2.99.

Cheap... Has to be in relation to current prices!

End of discussion. Close this thread down. Its done!

    Currently:

The app has the prices on if you want to check before setting off.

Brent and murban are still a bit higher but definitely good to see them under $100

Won’t help many out but I filled up at Costco at Thurrock before crossing to France. I wish I hadnt as diesel is 1.79 EUR or £1.52 a litre so don’t fill up before you leave Blighty if you are planning to visit France
  18. RJP23's avatar
156.7 at Leicester Costco now if that helps anyone.

Vote with your feet and never use these

Hi do you have to be a costco member to get these prices? Or can anyone go to the forecourt?

I pay £28 a year to save £6.50 a fortnight on fuel alone. Add to that the crates of water that really cannot be beaten on price and the £1.50 hotdogs that are amazing then honestly for 50p a week I don’t know how it’s not good value for money ?
  22. Thoughtful's avatar
This is really expensive even for Manchester with the Costco Chadderton one at 158.7 for unleaded and £170.7 for diesel.

Crude oil is falling like a stone with the price per barrel now below $90, the only problem is, so is the pound against the dollar which makes it more expensive.

The prices should still fall a good way, so if you can leave it, then do so and wait for the price to come down even further.
    ChrisGUK's avatar
At 0.6% more expensive, I’m not certain that qualifies as ‘really expensive’
  23. vwblack's avatar
Very competitive but certainly not cheap
    keng.tan's avatar
Cheap means low in price compared to similar options. Where are the cheaper options than this?
  24. bsmaff's avatar
In a years time will we be voting hot on a deal where petrol is £2.70 a litre
  25. Jamie_Pinner's avatar
I don't get why Costco fuel gets heat. Costco is always cheaper for fuel than other places that's just a given. It's not a deal as such. In this sense Costco fuel could just be posted daily.
    Stephen_petrou's avatar
Of course it's a deal, over 15p a litre cheaper than some places. Clearly saving people money (edited)
  26. seancharles's avatar
Don't forget - this is premium. Do not compare to supermarket cheap stuff
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
    You mean the premium diesel?
Costco sell both regular and premium unleaded. The regular 95 octane is the same as supermarket "cheap stuff".
  27. DJ8's avatar
    Not a deal
    Ultra_Magnus's avatar
It is when all the other petrol stations are more expensive. What don't you understand?
Of course we'd all like it to be 59.7 not 159.7 but right now this is the cheapest around, hence a deal.
  28. Yllek's avatar
Same price in Haydock, though E5 petrol is quite a bit more at nearly 173.9 (which is better than 180.9 they were charging til the other day).

For those asking about prices in their area, there is an app called Petrolprices which you can download and sign into for free rather than expecting other people to do the notsomuch donkeywork for yourself. (edited)

Should fall further. Crude at just or $92 per barrel

I work in automation and have been to many of the oil refineries in the UK. They're running. We're producing oil. Crude shipments are still coming in.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Probably shouldn't be using your phone that close to the pump
  31. thermomonkey's avatar
To the nearest penny would be fine.... going to 1/10th of a pence is a bit silly.
  32. Soapy_bubble's avatar
Which type of costco membership do you need to buy fuel? Will an online only membership work?

    Thanks in advance.
  33. greg666's avatar
Anyone knows how to get the current pump price online without calling them? I found some info on their website but it doesn’t mean that is today’s price.

I need the diesel price for Bristol

As someone who knows 2 people who used Costco regularly for petrol and have since had problems which, according to the mechanic, were caused by using fuel from Costco, I would personally avoid them like the plague.
Please don't ask me for more info because I don't have it but all I know is they used the Stevenage branch.
    BreakingBank's avatar
Been using costco fuel for 4 years now with not a single issue. However really interesting that you know 2 people with the same issue.

    158.7 at Thurrock!

That's 32p a litre less than it was - so about £18 less to fill my tank.
