POTENZA S001If you want to push the boundaries with your high-performance vehicle, then the Potenza S001 is the tyre for you.

Bridgestone’s flagship sports tyre is made from an advanced material compound and features a reinforced sidewall, increasing the stiffness of the tyre carcass and improving responsiveness and cornering power. What’s more, rolling resistance has been reduced, keeping the Potenza S001 in line with regulations for today and tomorrow, while an EU Grade ‘A’ label for wet grip has also been obtained.

These are awful tyres, truly awful. Rock hard compound - gives a hard and noisy ride, turn in grip and initial traction are poor. Everything I buy a new VAG I seem to get these tyres, and swap them out straight away.

Do yourself a favour and buy some Goodyear Eagle Asy 6 or Michelin PS5 from Costco for about the same price whe the voucher offer rotates to those 2 brands.

Should be noted that, as per Costco's policy if you purchase two front tyres, they will fit them to the rear and put your old rears on the front(!).... regardless if your vehicle is front or rear wheel drive (edited)

Not if your car is running a staggered setup

Bridgestones tyres are not very good in my opinion. I find the ride hard and the wear rate quite high. 😞

A bit of a side note, the Bridgestone potenza runflats on my 'heavy' E46 convertible had 6 new cracks to the alloy last year, all be it 35mm thick, wrote off the alloy. - decided to buy a spare and normal tyres. (edited)

Good price for a Big Brand 225/40 18.....

However, the tyre design is long its tooth now and many more recent releases are just much better all around for not a lot more.

Great tyre. Been my go to tyre for 10+ year. Good balance of wear/grip and last ages if treated well. Very good in the wet. Alternatively Continental or Michelin also stack up well. (edited)

Agree these aren’t the greatest of tyres. Seem stock on VW golf’s we’ve had. Just now replacing front ones with pilot sport 4’s from Costco as wasn’t much more and far better tyres IMHO.

Looks like Costco are the best price for my tyres. I'm fairly sure I qualify for a membership through work.

Just wondering which membership is the one to go for if I'm just after 4 tyres (probably won't use the membership for much else).

Also does this have to be done at the counter of a Costco?

Also... Do I need the membership first or can I book fitting then sort the membership thing out on the day?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for any answers
