Yamazaki Distillers Reserve Whisky
This is off their core range so usually their cheapest. Nice easy drinker and worth trying if you want to try Japanese whisky.
I was in a whisky shop in Chester yesterday and they had this on offer £65 so did a tasting. Was nice but in my opinion not a £50+ any day of the week.
Quick google search and it’s half price at Waitrose £36 down from £72.
None at store in Chester but have 2 arriving from online today.
£65+ online (Master of Malt £66.95)
Cost me £3 delivery for my area.
***Just found out it’s a minimum £40 spend on delivery orders so add a loaf of bread…

About us
Yamazaki is the signature malt of Japan's first and foremost whisky producer Suntory. This is one of the most awarded distilleries in the world - experience the incredible complexity of Yamazaki Single Malt and be transported to a culture in harmony with nature and her beauty. Distilled in the town of Yamazaki outside Kyoto, this single malt is distilled in the spiritual home of Japanese Whisky. The Japanese Emperor and famous monk Sen No Rikyu highlighted Yamazaki for its pure water and beautiful nature and Suntory have embraced this tradition in a truly complex whisky.
Alcohol by volume: 43%

£75 Ocado ocado.com/products/yamazaki-distillers-suntory-single-malt-whisky-561748011
(The Champagne Company looks like the next-cheapest, but they add £7.50 DPD delivery / UK Mainland, which makes them slightly more expensive than Master Of Malt)

I'm sorry to learn that you experienced changing price of the product. I understand that you would like to confirm why this happen. I also imagine how disappointing it is.
Our customers will be charged the in-store prices on the day of delivery or collection and this is when payment is taken. This could be different from the price quoted when you place your order.
Have a nice day and my apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.
Looks like items being returned and never shopping at Waitrose again after all, so much for being a premium supermarket - such a thing doesn't exist I suppose
Add a loaf of bread and pint of milk
Shows at £75 out of stock now
Ordered 2 bottles at £72 for both, was charged £150 today when I came to collect, I explained there’s a price discrepancy and they honoured the original price of £36 each, they just explained it’s a national error on the website and shouldn’t have been that price but we’ll honour it today but now it’s back to £75 on the shelves
(edited)
I won’t open either of the two bottles until the difference has been refunded back onto my card and if it’s not then I’ll return for full refund.
Having said that the original email clearly states:
“Payment will be taken on day of collection. Totals are estimates to allow for substitutions, weighted lines and promotional changes. Discounts are valid at the time the order is placed. If offers expire you will not get the discount. For refunds on expired offer items, please return them at the point of collection.”
The change in price here isn’t the result of a substitute product, a difference in weight/quantity or a promotional offer expiring so if Waitrose are adamant they will charge me full price then I’d like to know on what grounds they feel they are eligible to do so given that none of the above scenarios are applicable here.
I even visited the Yamasaki Distillery in Japan in 2019 and they didn’t have any.
Bargain. Two ordered.
Very unhelpful. Would be in their favour to honour their mistake, especially if payment had been agreed at time of purchase.
That line “Discounts are valid at the time the order is placed.” Should stand?
It’s immediately contradicted by the following line:
“If offers expire, you will not get the discount.”
Will try and claim the refund tomorrow.
Took me longe
Got £78 refunded today for being charged £150 instead of £72 for two bottles.
Took me longer than expected as I took some time off work so wasn’t able to visit the store I picked up from. In the end it was customer service on the phone called from in store that issued the refund anyways.
Happy with the result.
They've agreed refund of the whiskey but not the £3 del charge.
All local stores South Birmingham slots I checked..
Heat added.
Question to anyone who knows waitrose click and collect. Do I have to pick up in the hour time slot or is that just the arrival time and I can turn up after?
I'm assuming the latter but just want to check
