Why is it that this should be done in-store? (edited)

Easier n safer. Currys are prone to refuse devices sent for trade in.

Looking to trade in my S6 Tab for a S8 Plus so you buy to collect and and just bring your tablet with you to the shop? (edited)
    zackariah's avatar
Naaa sell your s6, buy a 10-20 tablet trade that in and use the cash from the s6

For simple media consumption is the standard S8 heaps better than the A8 I picked up for net £100 after all discounts and trade-in?

for watching movies, na, i wouldn't get this just for that, stick with the A8

Do NOT use the postal option for Currys or CPW trade-ins

I'm currently still battling my trade in for my Pixel 7 Pro.

First trade-in pack never arrived, emailed, no answer, phoned several times, no answer, chased fist email no answer

Went to a CPW store, they were unable to get anyone on the phone to help them, all they could do was request a new trade in pack, which meant that I was going to struggle to get the £150 bonus

Finally they reply to the first e-mail 7 days later saying that they can't help and just go to a store, yet the store can't help

2nd trade in pack arrived and I sent it with the printed e-mail trail inside 3 times (each layer of packing), with the 2nd trade in barcode and reference scrubbed out

Get a reply to my follow-up email 8 days later, again saying they can't do anything

Still awaiting to hear on my trade-in a week later - it's only £325 of my money after all!

Their ears must have been burning - finally got my trade in confirmation. It was processed as two separate claims for some reason

This is a great price after trade in, purchased S8 ultra and while it is huge- it is an amazing display to consume content.

Has anyone tried trading an old but just about working tablet? I have a 6 year old cheap brand one that runs on android 5.
    Taka_nai's avatar
I went in and showed them an non working acer iconia tablet… they confirmed they would have accepted that if they had stock to trade
  7. gsamsa's avatar
Still deciding if going for S8+ or S8. Any suggestions?
    Ridg's avatar
I have the S8+ for media consumption it's amazing (better screen than the S8) the real benefit of the + for me is the larger size for when it's being used for drawing
  8. kappachin0's avatar
My local store don't have stock, can I trade in still and have them order the tablet there and then in store?
    BadBadtz's avatar
Yup - I just popped in and got the instant trade in and will collect tomorrow
  9. nate49LS's avatar
Is there any way of running windows on these?
    Subsh's avatar
you can SunOS for Intel 😁

    no, you can't run Windoze

Just to flag, a number of these devices seem to have come back into stock at some point overnight
  11. kenny000666's avatar
I did the trade in via mail. Instead of giving a gift voucher, I had to buy the item first and provide proof of purchase and they gave me the £200 as cashback direct to bank.
Unfortunately they only had the pink one in stock, and I don’t think my 9yr old son will appreciate a pink tablet . Anyone know what happens to the cashback if i exchange it, or return it?
    Subsh's avatar
I got the pink one. The 120Hz screen is wonderful. I got a black case, without case it is fragile anyway, of course my personal opinion.
  12. Jonathan_Weightman's avatar
Thanks , just been to my local store, £225 trade in for working tab 3! They had the standard £509 model in stock, so £284..added on the 50% off keyboard case offer too
    Ali2021's avatar
Did you receive a copy of the trade in gift card to your e-mail too?
  13. dgh89's avatar
While this is a great offer, if you’re after a tablet that will last you for years I would go for an iPad. I’ve had my iPad Air 2 for 6 years now and still working well with 85% battery capacity. All my other premium android tablets have died or become too slow to bother using. (edited)
    ohmygod2006's avatar
I'm only considering this because ipads stop at 12.9" if they made a 15" i would be grabbing it for sure.

I have iPad pro and i know these wont compare in benchmarks but how are the top of the range ultras fair for movies?
  14. dfunked's avatar
Got £202 paid into my account just now which was much quicker than I expected (only posted it on Monday)

The S8 is a lovely bit of kit. Display doesn't pop as much as the S8+, but barely noticeable unless you're comparing them side by side. A much nicer size to use for 90% of the times I want to use a tablet.
  15. BadBadtz's avatar
Thanks i just traded in an original Samsung Galaxy Tab from 2010 for £207. I also used 6% off eVouchers via a companies website.

This is my £100 voucher to whoever wants it. Only work for Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
  17. richard844's avatar
Just to share my experience, I tried the £529 price match that people tried and didn't manage to get that to work although I did get a £100 code. I had planned to trade in an iPad for £270 + the extra £200 but instead I traded in a Nexus 7 over 7 years old but working and got £202 including the extra trade in value. Making the cost to change to the S8 Ultra 256gb £699, I then traded my iPad to music magpie with an extra 10% trade in code for £310 and a few pence, total cost to trade up from a 2017 iPad was £387. The trade in process was extremely efficient and the staff at Currys St George's retail park in Leicester we're fabulous to deal with, the £202 trade in voucher arrived by email in seconds and the whole transaction complete in minutes. Paid a 5er for next day delivery, for me that was worth it so I didn't have to travel back to store. Ordered 17.30 Saturday arrived 11.45 Sunday morning. Tab Ultra has a fantastic screen couldn't be more pleased. Thanks for posting the deal 😁

What was the 10% trade in code for MusicMagpie? I plan to do the same

If they said you couldn’t walk out of the store with the voucher, why did they give it to you? Instead of them ordering it online for you from their screen?
  19. DannyH92's avatar
So if I go on eBay or cex buy any tablet like a kindle fire for example and then go to the Currys store with the tablet and I can trade in right then and there for the new tablet with £200 off ?

Sorry if that sounded like a dumb question (edited)

Tip.. buy a used tablet from gumtree.

I recently did the Samsung deal. Bought a £10 fire tab from gumtree to trade in.

Buy a broken one. Trade in
  22. kappachin0's avatar
Can confirm this works fine in store. Went in there at lunch time and traded in a 2015 Fire HD 5 Gen, they didn't have stock so I asked to order one for delivery. They were so slow though the whole thing took them 30 mins.

Got the last one from the Cannock branch. Wasn't showing on system but I could see if locked away in the case. Certainly worth having a look.
It was the 128gb one though at £509.

Could anyone please tell me how much is the Samsung keyboard?

Far too expensive, I would try to get an alternative from amazon if I were you.

    Hi all,

Looking at getting an S8 for my daughter who will primarily be using this for drawing with the s pen, with maybe some basic animation work.

Is there any reason to go with the plus or ultra over the basic, apart from screen size? She currently does it all on her POCO without a pen, so 11" would be a massive improvement.

    Cheers
    eddiebaby's avatar
S8+ and s8 ultra are AMOLED whereas the s8 is TFT I believe.
  27. BigPro's avatar
It states they would only give me just £26 off if I traded in my tablet! Not worth it....
    quake.ee's avatar
+200 by promotion so 226 altogether.
  28. j.snow's avatar
    Can the screen be cracked?
    Peter1001's avatar
Yes, I traded in a broken tablet, screen cracked from inside, display won't turn on. Got £204 for it
  29. Aaishah's avatar
Would you recommend waiting till black Friday as there's not that much stock?
    carlmwright's avatar
When I got mine under this offer, the sales guy told me that if the price dropped on Black Friday, I could come back in and get a refund of the difference.
  30. Dsigner's avatar
This one is very much under YMMV but if you see the Currys page on the S8 Ultra 256GB, under the Price Promise it shows the Samsung website having a price of £529 for the 256GB S8 Ultra. The price has been updated again today and showed a similar price 3 days ago.

I was able to submit a Price Match request via live chat and reference the Currys page itself which showed the lowest price at £529.

Probably my lucky day as I was given a Price Match code to use after 24 hours on the website. The code worked and I was able to get the device shipped to my local for collection, so I've now got the tablet with me!

I wasn't sure if the trade-in was going to work over and above that in-store, to bag me a GC of £200, so didn't try it.

So I'm definitely happy with this one. Didn't expect to get an S8 Ultra at that price!!

    Cheers

If it helps anyone I went into store with an old tablet hoping to trade in and them to order an S8 to store. They processed the trade in and I got a £200 voucher (paper + emailed), but the guy advised I order the new tablet myself, so I ordered it for free delivery to my home. Went through TCB which has tracked, but may not pay due to me using a free delivery code
    Ali2021's avatar
    Which branch was this?
  33. AlphaFox's avatar
Does the tablet need to be in stock instore if I want to trade in a old tablet for £200?
    OMGWTFALIX's avatar
Doesn't need to be in stock. Just tell them you'll take the voucher and buy it online when it comes back into stock.

Just found out I could have saved an extra £55 using bluelight card disocunt on the S8 plus 256gb model 😪 (edited)
    AlphaFox's avatar
So my tablet came today. Delivered via DPD but it was so poorly packaged. They put it in a thin paper bag with no protection. As expected it arrived looking like the box has been hit by a truck or two. Contact Currys... what a joke. 7 to 14days for an exchange...

    256gb ultra for 700 looks tempting :/
    umirza85's avatar
To be fair the 256 Ultra 5G has been £700 before with trade-in and free Galaxy Buds2, and that was pretty recently (via the samsung corporate store website). I think we'll see many more deals for this coming up, but this is an excellent price.
  37. Oye's avatar
Joke trade in prices without the voucher
    Potterified's avatar
Indeed. It is akin to Samsung offering a flat £150 or £200 for any tablet any condition.
  38. Daniel_McKee's avatar
I have an S7 plus that I would like to trade in for an S8 Ultra. Not seeing S7 in the list of available tablets to trade in, anyone else seeing this?
    ought's avatar
Sell it for a few hundred, buy a cheap used tablet and save a few hundred.
  39. efcdamo's avatar
So I went in store today and got the £202 e-gift card off an old tablet as they had no stock, anything to stop me trading in another tablet and also using this e-gift card in store when they actually have stock again? (edited)
    Peter1001's avatar
Yeah just did it. I traded in a tablet and bought a tab s8. Was faulty, returned it got a £509 gift voucher. Went back a week later, today, bought a tab s8 plus, traded in another tablet and got another £200 gift card and then used used the remaining £509 to pay it off. Still got £30 change left on the gift card
