I own a 2011 i10 with 160k miles, cheap to run cheap to replace parts, in the 11 years besides the normal tyres and break pads... only a broken alternator, broken radiator pipe and just a month ago a new clutch, total about 600 quid..

I have a 2015 1.0 Premium so an earlier model than this, which I've owned from new. It's been on a few 300+ mile runs up and down the country and fares well enough on a motorway but the 1.0 struggles up hills, and forget it if you're 3 or 4 up. I wish I'd got the 1.2 in all honesty.

That said around town it's returning 45mpg+ and hasn't missed a beat for us. I am tempted to look at the 1.2 here to see if they have any decent offers.
If the winter pack is available I'd go for it - the heated steering wheel on ours has been invaluable!

Try it with shell Vpower . You might be surprised on the improvement uphill

I've got a 22 plate Hyundai Kona Electric. Please don't buy an electric car
    pull's avatar
I own the same car, please buy an electric car.

The Kona EV is one of the most efficient out there, and cheapest for the range. Also sounds like you have the lower battery version. Get on octopus energy's electroverse for the access card. Everything is nice and simple. I've driven to europe and back in winter, 270miles in one go with 15 minutes charging at eurotunnel just to ease our worries but with careful driving there no issue even in winter.

Your post is just scaremongering. (edited)

Is cover picture actually the model listed?
    gg1pl's avatar
100% no, will be top of the range trim with all the extras but somehow car dealerships get away with it, it's the new dodgy car salesman tactic that's moved from the forecourt to online (edited)

WOW how these have gone up in price 😞 over 12k for a basic tin can
    deleted2460409's avatar
Is the pricing of cars something you haven't checked in the last 3 years? 🤷‍♂️

    14 seconds to 62mph lol. £12k lol.
    SR4's avatar
Any car that's faster and can be bought new for £12k? lol
  9. deleted2460409's avatar
Looks decent but no doubt the owner of a 2003 BMW 320i with rusting wheel arches will be along shortly to say this is too dangerous on the motorway 🙈
    CynicalNurse's avatar
Ah, do I detect the new car buyer's jealousy that someone has a better car than them for a fraction of the cost?
  10. spatter's avatar
We have one of the 2014 ones. And I'm 6'5" and there's still Headroom! Never gone wrong. Great car

I have a Hyundai i20, my husband has a Tuscon and my BIL has an i10. We bought them cos of the 5 year warranties, all have been brilliant cars. All about 6 years old. My sister has my old i20, still running fine despite being over 11 years old. I would definitely consider another, though would also look at Kia as they have 7 year warranty.
    gtd65's avatar
    I had a 2010 i20 diesel.
75MPG without trying in the warmer months of the year and up to 83MPG with three tanks.
Winter months it usually dropped down to 65MPG plus only 30 quid road tax.

Cracking little cars but I upgraded to a KIA Ceed SW (Estate) after the i20.

    BMW E92 335D money that!
    John_Deere's avatar
E92 is rather dated these days. Spend a bit more and get the Fxx. Although even those are dates interior wise. Someone who has owned a 300bhp car in the past it not going to be buying this so it’s a different market. This is for those who want to go from A to B without speed or hassle. Not my cup of tea but I see why they appeal.
  13. Pink100's avatar
We had one of these for a few years. Great little car. Never cost us a penny bar normal maintenance. Would buy one again if ever we needed a little run about again

My daughter absolutely loved her I-10 auto. Sadly the local, neighbourhood arsonist didn't...

I bought a i10 1.0 SE in 2009 with the government's scrappage scheme for £5500. It has been used daily for commuting and more recently on regular motorway journeys from Leicester to Birmingham and been trouble free. In nearly 13 years it's had a couple of new Tyres and a battery and a rear light bulb.
    galareho's avatar
We did exactly the same, ours is a 1.25 classic though. Recently sailed through its mot, its never failed one. Its cost us hardly anything over the 13 years. The only thing thats needed doing more than once is the drop links but i think a lot of that is to do with the state of the roads where we live.

Dacia Sendero has better leg room in the back.

But...bought mine in February and still waiting for it to be delivered...same price as this though.
  17. eelvis's avatar
Precovid a prereg one was £5500, was tempted.
    Ilovedesign's avatar
In what world is *any* brand new car 5500. Even before COVID most new cars were 10k+ minimum
  18. deleted231063's avatar
I see on the same page, it's £13,669 for the I-10 automatic. That's actually not bad for a small auto in today's money. I think I paid around £9,900 in 2016.
    cowtc's avatar
I think KodaBear means this is like a normal manual but a robot changes gears for you. I've experienced this in a Smart Forfour and recently an older Honda Jazz (not a cvt). The Forfour was at times dangerous when trying to joining a roundabout as it couldn't figure or change gear quick enough. It's also quite jerky compared to proper auto. It's like someone else is changing your gears and not always that good at doing it

The New Hyundai I10 Hatchback 1.2 MPi SE Connect 5dr is £13933 which is £1584 more if you need the extra power
    1.2 4cylinder version
This includes a fuel economy of 60.1 MPG combined and 108 g/km CO2 emissions from the 4 cylinder, 1197 CC engine with a 5 speed gear box. This produces 84 BHP with a top speed of 106 MPH and a 0 to 62 time of 12.6 seconds. The car fits into insurance group 8A.
  21. obsydian's avatar
Best to hold off until the Stage 7 emissions drama, if it flies then you will probably get no grace period as the goal posts will move as then they aim for all EVs.

    NCAP - 3 stars - adult occupant 69%, child 75% - euroncap.com/en/…393

I'd rather buy a used one that is built better. Don't forget, it's the other idiots on the road you have to worry about, even a runabout at 30mph could have a combined speed crash of over 60mph.

I nearly had a head-on crash a few months ago with a drunk/drug driver, managed to swerve out the way, but the idiot crashed and wrote off 3 cars 100 yards down the road. Don't assume it will never happen to you! (edited)
    harrythefish's avatar
Isn't 4 NCAP stars the highest any car without lane assist (always on at journey start) can get these days?

The best you can do for you wallet (and planet) right now is to keep your old one going. That should also put some pressure on car manufactures.
    fishmaster's avatar
Yup I sold a 2019 car for maximum hyper inflated insanity cash pricing and then bought a 2008 Civic Diesel (bad fuel choice in hindsight) and I've ran it for a year, had a gearbox & clutch fluid replacement as preventative maintenance which cost about £130. Had an ARB droplink replaced for £80 and so far that's all it's cost me in maintenance in 14 months. I've added £350 worth of Android Auto / Apple Carplay headunit and wiring for reversing camera. Next up is replacement SODs (shut off devices) for the mirrors as that's a common fault. I'll keep this thing going as long as I can. Who knows the clutch might go and cost me £800 or the manifold and cost me £1000 but that's old cars for you. It hasn't so far and the boot doesn't leak (yet) so all good. I'm going to get it up on a ramp in the spring and have a gander at the rear quarters underneath as they can rust badly. If not rusted then I'll get it properly treated. Then I might get some Bilstein B4 shocks, top mounts and poly bushes and redo all the suspension to make it a bit more comfortable.

A lot of this stuff is optional but as I'm keeping the car for a long time it will make it better to live with. No such issues with new cars of course but new cars cost stupid money. (edited)

Good car. I have a 2016 i10 SE from new and it's flown through every MOT no problems so far. Amazing how much these cars have increased in price. I only paid £7580 for mine brand new back then, only option I wish I added was the winter pack for the heated steering wheel. 49038821-8uLTK.jpg

Car deals are by far the best deals just for the comment comedy value. Really brightens up my day.

Looking back at deals on here 10 years ago and you'd of got 2 for this price. Can't help but feel we're being ripped off.

I know stuff goes up but Jesus!.

My mum has the previous SE to this 1.2L, great car. (edited)
  30. John_Deere's avatar
Seems a good price for a specific target audience. It’s not a petrol heads car and it never will be but it looks decent enough for the price. Would I buy one? Not a chance, it’s not fast enough or big enough for my requirements so clearly I am not their target buyer but ample people value price and warranty over speed and size.

I traded in an old clapped out fiesta which I thought was worth less than £1000, was amazed when they told me they’d take it + £5,000 for a new i10.
That was back in 2016 though…

Purchased an i10 in 2009 for £5500, kept it for 10 years and it never failed an MOT, wish I had never sold it now, I have a Kia Picanto and it is no where near as good as my little 1.2 Hyundai
  33. PIOM's avatar
gotta say it’s a nice looking little car

What a great car. I live in London and reckon this would be perfect. Apart from the North circular. You never go over 30 MPH. Travel to the South West and back, once a month. I'd be happy at sitting at 70 MPH, on the journey across. Look at the comments, from people, who own one. (edited)
    cycleman's avatar
90% of my driving is in the city, I go from London to Norwich and back about once a month, that’s the only time I wish it had a bit more oomphh but it still manages fine.

Great little cars but buying one of these for this kind of cash kills me inside.
    HonourableGentleman's avatar
But when used cars are £10K for a five year old model with 30,000 miles it's cheaper to buy new
  37. scrounger's avatar
Can this be remapped? Performance is astonishing...
    Mikiex's avatar
Sure if you remap it you gain 100bhp, 0 - 60 is then 5.6 seconds
  38. BarnSt0rmer's avatar
The turbocharged 3 cylinder 1.0-litre T-GDI N Line version looks a little bit more fun, but obviously costs a bit more too, about 17.5K by the looks of it.
