Edited... Here's a step by step instructions for switching from your current Suppliers to Octopus Energy for the Tracker Tariff.
What I like to do is help as many people as I could in saving them some money on their monthly utility bills due to the costs of living.
I just switched my gas & electric to Octopus Energy onto their Tracker Tariff - "Octopus Tracker November 2022 v1"
I am saving about 30% on both gas & electric each month!
On the EPG under the Government's Energy Price Guarantee - I am paying for both gas & electric £209.35 per month or about £2512.20 per year based on my estimated usage.
On the tracker - "Octopus Tracker November 2022 v1", I'm now paying Monthly amount: £162.09 and the Annual amount is: £1945.09. This is based on Annual usage:
Electricity: 3,892 kWh
Gas: 12,397 kWh
For the London region, on the "Octopus Tracker November 2022 v1" tariff - it is on 03Feb2023 (today):
Electricity:
Unit price: 23.10p per kWh
Standing charge: 31.51p per day
Gas:
Unit price: 6.72p per kWh
Standing charge: 26.84p per day
I contacted Octopus Energy on the 1st Feb 2023, and I will be switched over on the 4th Feb 2023 (midnight onwards).
Remember the price of gas can go up or down each day (as this is a tracker tariff) - but so far for the last 3 months, the price per KWph for both gas & electric has been below the Government Energy Price Guarantee by about 30%.

This is what you need to do:
1. Click on:

2. Sign up to the standard variable tariff - "Flexible Octopus October 2022 V1" - this is the same pricing as the fixed variable tariff you're already are on with your current Supplier - British Gas, Scottish Power, Shell Energy, etc.
Don't worry, it’s the same price as the Government Energy Price Guarantee.
3. Put in your postcode, and your annual usage for Electricity and Gas. If unknown, select the house / flat size.
4. Put in your bank details, etc for the Direct Debit Setup. They will take out two direct debit payments in one month, but don't worry. The monthly payments will be adjusted after 3-6 months, because you are in credit.
5. If you have a smart meters on both your gas & electric, then meter readings will be sent over automatically when you switch over 4-5 days later.
6. If you have no smart meters installed - then you need to give manual meter readings at the time of the switch-over. I suggest you give another meter reading once every week or once a month - whichever is easier for you. If you want an accurate bill (in getting the best pricing for each week), then once a week meter reading would be better.
This can be easily done via the Octopus Energy smartphone app in 5 seconds - giving the meter readings.
7. Either email (hello@octopus.energy) or call Octopus Energy (on 0808 164 1088 freephone) quoting your new account number (which they will email to you after you have joined) stating that you like to change to a new tariff at the time of the switch-over. You want to change over to the tariff called "Octopus Tracker November 2022 v1".
8. If you email on hello@octopus.energy, you should hear back within 24 hours. They should email you back, asking you - are you sure you want to change tariff?
You email back, stating "Yes, I like to change to the new tariff". Thereafter (about 24 hours later), another email confirms that it has been done. You should see a new monthly price in the email you get.
9. Or, If you called on 0808 164 1088 freephone number (about 5-10 mins waiting time), give them your new account number and that you like to change over to the tariff "Octopus Tracker November 2022 v1". It should be done there as you are waiting on the phone within 1 min. You should see a new monthly price in the email they send out afterwards to you.
10. Download the Octopus Energy app onto your smartphone and register a new account with them using the same email you used when you joined them.
On there, you should see the new tariff on your account - you are on saving you about 30% each month.
11. I will be keeping an eye on the gas prices each day / week - and let you know if you need to switch again.
You can switch back to the original standard variable tariff (no exit fees) - "Flexible Octopus
October 2022 V1" - this is the same pricing as the fixed variable tariff you're already are on with your original old Suppliers - British Gas, Scottish Power, Shell Energy, etc.
By emailing them or calling them (hello@octopus.energy) or on 0808 164 1088 freephone - asking to be switched back to the "Flexible Octopus October 2022 V1" tariff immediately.
12. About 1 month later, if you want smart meters installed (because you don’t have any) for both gas & electric (so you don’t need to worry about giving a meter reading each week), just email them asking that you like to have smart meters installed for both your gas & electric.
They will sent out the Engineers about 4-6 weeks later, when appointments are available in your area. It takes about 30 mins to do each meter, by the Engineer.
Then, you can monitor the energy usage hour by hour on the monitor screen they give you after they finish installing the smart meters.
