I weighed the bone from a 1.1kg tomahawk and it was 175g cooked. Would be a bit heavier raw but nowhere near 40%. So it's probably more like £19/kg. For comparison, Tesco Finest rib eye is currently £23/kg Clubcard price. Aldi 21 day £19.40/kg, 28 day £21.40/kg. (edited)

Tomahawk steaks look fantastic, but you will probably pay half for a thick cut Ribeye.

A Ribeye beef steak is basically a Tomahawk without the bone.
    The bone doesn't add flavour.

It is a scam traded by high-end restaurants, because it looks so great.
'Frenching' like on a rack of lamb makes it a spectacle with a price.
Admittedly, they are usually thicker, but if you're buying it, just get a thicker Ribeye.
You will still pay a lot less.

However, if you Instagram your special food, go with the Tomahawk

In all honesty, please point me to where I can get thick cut ribeye for anything like half of £25/kg (which is what this offer yields) (edited)

Cooking instructions pinched from a previous deal

Rare 15 - 20 mins. Medium 20 - 25 mins. Well Done 35+ mins. Preheat oven. Heat 1 tbsp oil in frying pan, add steak and cook on high heat to seal (2 mins each side). …Transfer to an ovenable tray and roast in the centre of a preheated oven. …Ensure the surface of the meat is thoroughly cooked. …Due to the natural variability in the thickness of the meat, the cooking instructions provided are a base guide. For thicker steaks, additional cooking time may be required. Ensure surface of the meat is thoroughly cooked. Once cooked, cover with foil and allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving. Take extra care when barbecuing. Cook first and barbecue to finish. (Time 15 - 35 mins, Oven: 200, Fan: 180, Gas: Gas Mark 6)

Erm - it's called a tomahawk steak - the clue is in the title as the tomahawk refers to the attached bone which makes it look like a tomahawk, otherwise is would just be a steak...

Just to clarify, it's not £15 per steak, it's £15 per kilo. Given it's not the best cut of meat and you're paying for bone it's not as good a deal as they want you to think it is. Probably works out dearer than their finest sirloin. (edited)

Correct, but still a lot of meat for that price. Bonus if you have a dog as they get the bone

I could not reach them, as they were on the top shelf...the steaks were too high. :/
