I rarely post as I don't often stumble across a good deal like some of the other opps here but I think this is good and I just ordered it.

The recent comparison is the Lidl deal which was only 2000kw, there is a 2000kw on offer as well but I want heat (if you pardon the pun).

£5 quid to heat up 1 room for 6 hours, not really good value when you think about it.

Only if you run it on max, they have thermostats and heat settings that significantly reduce the consumption.
I did a test recently on my 2kw oil filled one in my home office and it used 3.5kw in 11 hours.
I am on 28p/kwh, lets call that £1 for 11 hours, if you are on the price cap it will be a little more.
    Obviously your mileage may vary.

It's 2600Watt peak. On the hottest setting and temperature it cycles on for 2mins and off for 5. On the half-way temp setting it cycles on for 3 minutes and then off for 8. So likely to be closer to 50p hour. They are a bit.....minimalist in terms of construction, but it gets hot and has plenty of surface area to dissipate that heat quickly. (edited)

So just got this... not impressed with the quality but seems to heat up...but unsure if it is 2500 as it doesn't feel that hot and I have several oil filled radiators... plus it arrived damage. Disappointing

UPDATE. I have had this now approx 10 days and have it running in a large open plan room kitchen/lounge. It heats the room up to a steady 18 degrees in around 2 hours . Only negative for me on this was that it arrived damaged with a bent fin (minor) and the thermostat is noisy with clicking. I managed to get a partial refund. I think for the money itsya fair deal

Instead of giving allowance, government should invest more on nuclear and renewable energy and bring the price down.
£5 to run this for almost 6 hours is absurd, and It won't even heat up home... just one room.

You can't blame the appliance for the rate of electricity.....the question is, is the price for the appliance compared to others is it a good deal?

Good price considering this is up to 2500w!

Can't we just burn the amount of dog poo on the streets for energy?
    Besford's avatar
    And the dogs!

These are always a bit misleading, the 2500W refers to the maximum power it will consume heating up the oil. But the radiator itself will not put out 2500W of heat, it's far too small.

This kind of heater is virtually 100% efficient (converts all the electricity consumed to heat). Where do you think the other energy goes? Maybe you're not explaining yourself or maybe you just don't understand?

The prices are coming down, finally.

I've got an oil FREE radiator that runs between 1.2 and 1.8 KW

I'd guess an oil filled rad would stay warmer for longer?
    james_daleyEnJ's avatar
when you turn off it will stay warmer for longer

What is the cycle or duty time like for an oil-filled radiator. It's only 85p and hour on the top setting while it's heating up and it must switch off once it gets to a certain temperature or else it'd melt and spontaneously combust. (edited)

Correct once it reaches a temperature it will turn off

My gas central heating costs £6:00 a day, heating on for 6 hours a day on average and that also dry the clothes, heats food on the cooker (not oven) and could also run at least two baths.

I have stopped a lot of the draughts and used radiator reflectors though. (edited)
