Don't trust new hp printers. Some will stop working without subscription. Laser jets won't work without hp.com login

Keep in mind that with the 'e' printers you cannot use aftermarket / non-genuine HP inkjet cartridges if you have signed up to Instant Ink.
After you cancel instant ink the printer will ONLY accept genuine HP ink cartridges.

Still a good deal for some, just be aware of this restriction

If you roll it over to 2100 then cancel, do you end up losing those rolled over pages?

You lose most of them. It's to stop people rolling up on the free ink then 'downsizing'.

A little confused on how this works. Do you get 700 pages a month for 9 months for free (then cancel)?

There's a couple of big textbooks + workbooks I want to print and it would be far cheaper to do it this way. (edited)

What happens at the end of 9 months, does all the ink currently in your printer stop working or can you simply use whatever is left in the cartridge then you either have to resubscribe or buy ink cartridges the old way?

I have a b/w laserjet that just keeps going so I only need the odd colour printout but I'm wary of all the tactics used by HP, including best before dates etc.

If you cancel then the printer won't print until you buy new cartridges. However, the cheapest monthly charge is 99p and gets you 10 pages. I am on that and must get some carry over because I rately use it but sometimes print over 10 pages and never pay more than 99p. (edited)

Got this last time it was posted. it's OK but a bit slower than previous Envy printers and has an annoying need for the Document Feeder button to be pressed on the 2nd page of any print job and I can't find the setting to get round it. Still it's the cheapest document feeder printer around which is terrific if you're scanning a multi page report or even photos.

Got this last time and its decent for the price, get a friends referral for 3 months extra ink so 12 months free in total.

I bought this for £45 from last deal last month with BLC and it had £15 cashback offer, so got it for £30. It probably works out free of charge as they’re giving 1 year free ink. If you buy cartridge alone it would cost nearly £20

Wow 9 months of instant ink is good. And obviously with a Refferal code and Google search you can easily extend free ink to another 6 more months. So almost 15 months of free ink!!

i've had this printer for about a year, it's a good all round performer for what i've used it for (just everyday printing tasks really and some occasional scanning), and the free ink for most of that time was nice too.

The HP inkjet (and most other) printers aren’t worth the hassle in my experience. I’d buy genuine cartridges but use the printer only occasionally (2/3 times a month).

The heads would dry up completely in a couple of months and I’d end up using most of the ink trying to get a single sheet to come out in some sort of acceptable quality. I’d be trying to print a barcode on a shipping label and have to do it near 10 times to get one that was readable.

Ended up screwing it off for the sake of my sanity and bought a Brother duplex colour laser printer. Much more expensive of course, but very much worth it.
