Now dropped in price to £40! I don't think it's ever been this cheap. It comes with a 2 year warranty as standard with HP. I'd recommend the Currys warranty, they will replace with a new boxed printer that comes with a new instantink sub when it eventually dies.

All-in-one with WiFi
Print, scan and copy with the HP DeskJet Plus 4130e All-in-One Wireless Inkjet Printer. It has a 35-page auto-feeder that will help you get through your jobs faster. And it comes with built-in WiFi, so you can use it without needing to plug it into your computer.

Works with your smartphone
The HP Smart app lets you manage printing and scanning from your phone - you can even scan documents with your phone camera and send mobile faxes. Set-up is easy - simply pair your device with the printer and you're ready to go.

Enabled with HP+
The cloud-connected DeskJet Plus 4130e is enabled with HP+, which gives you extra printer benefits, such as automatic detection and fixing of connection issues. This makes the printer more up-to-date and secure. You even get more advanced options through the HP Smart app on your phone, such as easy multi-page document scanning, mobile fax and productivity features.

Includes 9 months of HP Instant Ink
Thanks to Instant Ink with HP+, you can save up to 70% on original HP Ink and up to 50% on toner. Cartridges are automatically ordered by your printer when you are running low and delivered to your door. Plans start from 99p per month for 10 pages.

The service works on how many pages you print, not how much ink you use. Choose between 10, 50, 100, 300 or 700-page monthly plans - unused pages roll over to the next month. The price includes ink, shipping and cartridge recycling.

Please note: HP+ requires a HP account, an ongoing internet connection and exclusive use of Original HP Ink cartridges. After 9 months a monthly fee for HP Instant Ink applies unless cancelled. Please see HP website for details.

This HP printer is designed to work only with cartridges that have a new or reused HP chip or electronic circuit. It uses dynamic security measures to block cartridges that are using non-HP chips or circuits. Periodic firmware updates will maintain the effectiveness of these measure, and block cartridges that previously worked. Reused HP chips and circuits enable the use of reused, remanufactured and refilled cartridges. For more details, see HP's website.

Buy the extended warranty, it's less than £10, if it fails you can go into store and get a brand new boxed replacement (so no down time), that can be important when using for work and you'll get another 9 months. Good luck with the new business!!

    I paid £49 back in November 2022 - personally I wouldn't recommend it

Do these printers enforce use of genuine HP ink?

I believe not if you don't sign up. I'd personally buy currys extended warranty (less than £10) use the 9 months then take it back if HP brick it (not legal imo) and currys will give you a new printer (with another 9 months).

Be aware this printer does not have auto duplex and is a bit clunky. A very budget printer. I know I have it. But for 9 months of 700 pages per month printing worth considering even if it goes to landfill or passed on. If you have a descent printer and want the extra months only then a good deal.

I thoroughly recommend these printers! I've just set mine up in 20 minutes flat and that was at a slow thorough pace.. They print nicely and quality pictures.. The 9 months ink Inc is an absolute bonus and at £40 this is a bargain.. Its throw away price really.. I used to hate printers as they usually always had some sort of problem but this one and other HP printers I've had have had no issues.. If you're thinking of purchasing go for it! (edited)

You're right. Sorry! I somehow thought it was an Amazon deal.

I bought this during last year's Black Friday sale for £49. As many others suggested, I do have connectivity issues often, but not as bad as it's discussed here IMO. HP also gives free months for referrals and it was 3 months free when I bought it, so I got an year's worth of free printing. I think it is 1 month currently for referrals, which is still not bad considering you are paying only £40 and you will get 10 months free printing (700 pages per month).

This printer only works with the original HP instant ink AFAIK, so you have to select one of the plans after the free months: instantink.hpconnected.com/uk/…/l/

The app is a little annoying, but remember you can connect from your laptop just using Bluetooth without an app as well. This printer doesn't have an auto duplex, so I open the documents in Chrome and select 'Even no. pages only' first and print all the even no pages and then put them back in the tray and print odd pages. The printer starts printing from last page to first page, so you have to try the printing a few times to master this

For £40 with 10 months of free printing, I would still say this is a decent printer if you don't mind dealing with the occasional app/connectivity issues

Can the 9 months be added to existing H+? I mean, don't get me wrong, it's the most faulty printer I have ever owned, but when it does work, the quality is incredible. Wondered if I can add the 9 months code because at 700 pages per month limit (we use approx 50 but have a lot more to do,..) this £40 is very much worth it for 9 months additional ink...

The 9 months can be used for existing accounts NOT the printer.

I already have a 5yo HP printer and instant ink.plan. Can I get this printer and sign up to the 9months free ink?

    Same price in Currys.

In case anyone's interested, Which? says of it:

Its up-front price might seem affordable, but you’ll end up paying for the HP DeskJet Plus 4130e in the long run, thanks to the exorbitant running costs revealed by our tests. Signing up with HP’s Instant Ink can make it cheaper to run, but there are better, faster models than the 4130e available, so we’d suggest shopping around.

Since that review quote is all about value for money, and it most definitely wasn't £40 (with 9mths of Instant Ink included) when they reviewed it, it's pretty much irrelevant!

Not the best printer. Had to use customer support many times. Gonna go back to my envy printer once my 9 months ink has expired. As told if I go back to old printer now, the free 9 months will end.

That's the reason for the extended warranty is good. I've had 2 new boxed printers under warranty and each had 9 months extra ink.

So cheap, why would anyone give Curry's more money purchasing an expensive warranty?
    dré.'s avatar
    dré. Author
because last time I looked it was £8 and when the printer dies you get a brand new printer with another 9 months instant ink, then, when it dies again, you get another printer with another 9 months instant ink. So you won't have to pay for ink for the full 3 years of the warranty and then some...... (edited)

I've had this for about 2 years and it's still working. It's always had a habit of stopping printing half way through a page though so sometimes takes a few retries which wastes paper and is annoying but we don't print a lot so we just put up with it! If I printed more often, I would definitely go for a better printer.

If you like your sanity, stay away from HP. I have used couple of them for few years, absolute trash support. Mobile app/scan works the first time, then bugs out . Even to scan you need printer ink. Why ?

Epson same, at least mine :(, I wonder why they do that!

Good printer (reliable connection so far), but be aware that it doesn't support duplex printing or scanning.

Shame, really, as I really like this one.

Ps: hp now also has a trial for paper services. (edited)

Landfill. If you take the 9 months offer of free instant ink and don't continue with the paid subscription, this printer will cease to function even if you have full inks. It contacts HP servers to check if a subsctiption is in place, and if it can't contact HP's servers after only a few days, it'll shut down.
If £40 makes sense for a printer that will last 9 months and then you bin it, sure it's a deal, but it's not helping the environment.

Paid £35 (£50 and £15 cashback they were offering at the time) for it 6 months ago with 9 months free. But it’s a pile of rubbish quality wise
