This or the crucial mx500? You can pick up a TB on eBay for £50ish

    MX500, easy.
More reliable and has DRAM cache so better performance (especially if used as the OS/apps drive).
Ignore anyone that goes on about Crucial switching to QLC NAND in the MX500's, it's nonsense.
A few people in Asia bought fake drives from AliExpress which were QLC and failed very quickly.

Just reminded me I need to sell a spare 1TB MX500 I have, lol. (edited)

Apparently it has been consistently below £30 every other day since April (Amazon). Though A400 isn't on my shortlist, benchmark wise (comparatively) if it goes below £30 again, I'd be tempted, though it will be interesting to see what happens on Prime day, have been holding out for another Crucial MX500 or Samsung!

    No it hasn't.
I posted a deal for it on Amazon a Month ago and have been checking on the price quite frequently, it's never dropped below £34. (edited)

How dare you expire my deal just because you found it cheaper elsewhere!
Actually...How dare you find it cheaper elsewhere!

I wonder how long this price crash will go on for, they'll have to pay us to take them away by the end of the year if they carry on at this rate. (edited)

I switched out a hard disk I use for archival stuff for one of these. The sustained write speed of the hard disk was 80MB/sec. The sustained write speed of this was 42MB/sec. I've gone back to the hard drive.

    That's pretty rough TBH.
I tested a cheopo £62 2TB fanxiang SATA SSD today, even in a USB enclosure it averaged around 80-90MB/sec.
Would have thought the Kingston would be quicker than that.

My first hard drive was 20MB. Not a typo, not GB.

    Crazy.

Got mine today, with a £7 enclosure, it makes a nice external hard drive. Very quick

Where did you see that the current version being circulated are TLC? The website just says 3D NAND, and 300TBW seems low for a 1TB tlc drive?

I think a lot of these budget ssd's have silently switched to qlc ...

Would buying an enclosure for this and using it as an external drive for Xbox/360/one games hooked up to series X be worth it, or should I just stick with my ext HDD drives I already have?

Took a week to arrive not good, shipped standard royal mail 48 in a plastic bag.

Poor service had to buy ssd from to get one here in time, time to avoid Mymemory.
