I think I'll play it safe and go for an iPhone 7 for trade in deals (edited)

Don't go for it, as stated above, no more updates from Apple.
    A57ton's avatar
You’ll still get security updates, just no OS updates.

    Completely useless buy..

Not really, not everyone wants all the latest features especially if buying for your kids. This makes a perfect portable music device

Nearly 8 years old. Who wants a phone you could legitimately take onto Antiques Roadshow?

dont be such a phone snob, using a 6s plus myself at the mo, does the job fine, can watch youtube, tiktok,do all my shares, log in and out my work jobs with it, browse fb,twitter ,listen to my spotify etc etc only retiring it next week due to my lad giving me his 11 (edited)

Just got paid £145 for my almost dead 6s as a part Google pixel trade in deal. It’s still a very good phone for £50

One of the last user repairable iPhones that will not complain about third party battery or screen.

Only Grey or Gold left. (edited)

Incorrect iPhone 8, and iPhone X don't have important battery or screen messages. iPhone XS started the serialised parts trend from Apple that gave important battery and screen warnings for third parts parts with later iOS 15.2 and above. After that it got progressively worse and now you have warnings for just about everything and even original parts won't work as they have to be coded to the device, which only Apple can do.

    • For iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, and later, including iPhone SE (second generation), you can see if the battery has been replaced.
    • For iPhone 11 models, iPhone 12 models, and iPhone 13 models, you can see if the battery or display have been replaced.
    • For iPhone 12 models and iPhone 13 models, you can see if the battery, display, or camera have been replaced

Worth noting these will only run up to iOS 15.7.3, so app support will be limited
    A57ton's avatar
Providing you have downloaded said app before, you’ll still be able to access an older version of it.

Don’t see any major difference between this and the say an iPhone 12. Apple need to stop slowing the old phone down.

Apple use a software trick on older phones where the phone will show sudden power fail, even when the battery was previously showing 20-50% charge. I have a second version of the original SE, and repeatedly watched this behaviour. Then I got a battery case, and watched as the phone completely changes its power behaviour when there is a trickle charge. Also Apple phones significantly lose charge when supposedly fully powered off- my Android phones do not do this.

This sudden power fail trick, rather that so-called 'slow down' is how Apple gets its customers to upgrade out-of-warranty phones. For Apple phones already have lousy battery life when new, so effectively losing two thirds of that life after two years is a clever method of planned obsolesce.

To be honest, I don't understand how people put up with these second hand Apple phones without a battery case (which most people won't use for weight and thickness reasons). My second hand SE, showing a battery at 80% good, would last less than two hours when doing anything intensive (non-gaming) from full charge. And this was entirely down to the sudden 'power-fail' trick.

This is great for an android user to get a rough idea of how Apple works.

Yep will give you a sound feel of iOS, bearing in mind it won’t be as snappy as new phones.
Have had one since new and it’s been handed down through the household and still used. (edited)

I need a iPhone for trueplay on my Sonos audio system!

Received mine today, I ordered the 6s in 'good' condition and it's spot on - little to no marks and the screen is perfect. Restored a backup with all apps I need on my backup phone and it's still more than capable, with no screen lag. The battery is 85% as well which is plenty.

The last model series to have an audio headphones port. (edited)

Has it got a built in FM radio too?
  14. charltonator's avatar
Other than the camera, you’d struggle notice much difference on later models. This goes for all brands of phones, other than build quality. The last of the headphone jack iPhones

I still use an iPhone 6 for listening to music in the gym and on my commute. Decent phone if you’re not interested in having the latest or for a child’s first phone (edited)

Better to buy something newer with the same amount of money. This will have been to the moon and back 😁

They did it's called the iPhone SE.

Ohhhh sorry folks could not recommend. My 6S was absolutely knackered in terms of being too slow and suffering from battery crashes when the weather was cold as of 3 years ago when I replaced it with an 11. Not worth it IMO.
    Sho_Nuff's avatar
    Was it a 32GB or 16GB?
  20. cb3611's avatar
Just upgraded my work phone from 6 pro to 10, and apart from a newer battery I don’t notice very much difference. I thought facial recognition would be a game changer, but I think I preferred the fingerprint button. I could have helped myself to a 12, but it didn’t seem worth it.

    What exactly were you expecting?
  21. Smoggy1970's avatar
Ordered a 6S Plus 32GB in 'Good' condition yesterday for £63.

Just arrived and it's absolutely mint, battery health 88%.

It will do to have a tinker with iOS, Carplay etc.

I was expecting it to be absolutely battered but cannot fault the condition.
