I have had 2 refurbed Ipads from Apple, both looked like new (qnd i think they put new batteries in them) the first one is now 6 years old and the 2nd 3 years old, both batteries last longer than my new android tab.

Apple Store refurbished iPads & iPhones come with a new shell, new batteries & new Apple warranty. Essentially you will see no difference vs buying a ‘new’ Apple product other than the box might be plain white. They are an excellent buy - I’ve bought iPhones and watches off the refurb store.

For anyone confused about the generation of this iPad Pro model, it’s the second gen. The generation refers to the screen size.

The first gen iPad Pro with an 11” display was released in 2018. The model (in the post) is the 2nd gen 11” iPad Pro with the A12Z Bionic released 2020. There have been two more releases since. 3rd gen in 2021 with the M1 chip and the 4th gen released in 2022 with the M2 chip.

The 11” is not to be confused with the 12.9” iPad Pro. The 12.9” screen size has been around since 2015, and is now on the 6th generation.

Nobody ever mentions sound quality! I’m always impressed how good it is coming from such small speakers, way better than normal ipad and Air. I don’t think they are stereo in landscape either.
    KermitDaFrog's avatar
yeah got mine today , so impressed with the sound even has a bit of bass.

Purchased one a few weeks ago, only use it for flight sim navigraph charts. Had to send it back immediately as it had line of dead pixels. No quibble and flawless one received back

I have the same issue, mine came today, how long did a replacement take as they said they need the product back before replacing?

Worth keeping in mind Apple didn't bring strange manager to the non-M1 iPads
    Tobias_Jordan's avatar
They rolled back on this in December. Stage Manager is now supported on non-M1 devices.

    Per Apple’s website
You can use Stage Manager on these iPad models:
iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)
iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)
    iPad Air (5th generation)

Hi everyone,Is the next generation (3rd) with the M1 chip worth nearly £200 more ???
Is it that much of an upgrade?
    Mentos's avatar
The  A12z is 3 years old now. You’ll definitely get two more years of OS updates. Usually I’d say more, but the switch to M processors may mean they deprecate the A series at 5y old.

So I’d consider that your worst case scenario. Most devs will continue to support the last two versions of OS. After that you’ll start to see some drop off with third party sw support.

Effectively that means you should get min 4 years out of this without any compromises wrt sw support. Hopefully more.

Personally I’d be inclined to save the £200, buy this and put that money towards another run out model in 4 years time. Very very few people will be processor bound by the silicon in this. And like phones, tablets have reached the point of diminishing returns with each new generation. (edited)

great , bought one, was looking at second hand ones on ebay . but apple store give 1 year warranty and a new battery fitted. so perfect.
    cheers

I have the 12.9 inch version of this from the refurb store. It looked brand new out of the box and has been flawless. For most people M1 in an iPad is massive overkill. The A12Z bionic is a very fast chip and I think will be more than sufficient for most people given the very large price difference.

I want to upgrade my iPad air 2. Is this worth it or a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, which has a much newer chipset?
    flip_star's avatar
Same. 9 years of flawless use means it's probably the best value bit of tech I've bought, so I'm going with another iPad (M1). Get the biggest memory capacity you can afford as the only reason I'm going to up grade is the 16GB memory barely hold the OS Also this link may help to alert you when the model you want is available,; refurb.me/gb

Just ordered! Shame the space grey has gone OOS now but all good!

I bought the last one about an hour and a half ago, but silver are still in stock. These seem like a fantastic deal. Watching a used excellent condition one on ebay and with 2 hours left to go its more than this already. Can’t wait until delivery tomorrow.

If anyone needs a pencil for this, I bought this 3rd party one with 3 additional nibs (currently £17 with the £5 voucher on listing) and works perfectly fine for me

It would be classed as a 4th
2nd gen means different looks like the new ones

Any recommendations from upgraded from my 2017 10.5 iPad Pro please ? Any ideas on new stock before April or do i bite bullet and get the 11inch one ? thanks
    Mike368's avatar
I have the same old iPad as you and I upgraded to this one. Especially when you compare the specs of this to the latest air/pro, it’s cheaper by a fair bit. The only thing to bare in mind with this being an older model, it won’t receive as many updates but still should last a good number of years
  17. LennyLeonard's avatar
Does anyone know if this is a sale price for the refurb or the standard price it's sold at? Wondering whether to pounce when it comes back in stock or if I can take my time...
    Tobias_Jordan's avatar
It’s just the standard refurb price. But it’s certainly a good deal and shouldn’t be missed!

Shows in stock for me, collection at Liverpool one and home delivery available.
bought one for my daughter for Christmas - amazing piece of kit for the price, I know these are refurbs but they seem brand new, only giveaway is the plain box they come in.
Price is similar for base entry iPad - it’s a no brained to go for this if you’re in the market for a new tablet

Just got one as well hopefully do me for a couple of years.

I would recommend paying for the extra disk space. kids will have installed 1000 apps on and taken random photos for no reason.

ipad pros are good. do exactly what they say on the tin, also usb c.
    hatelybear's avatar
    It’s not for kids then.

Bought two - when you consider this is less than the price of the brand new 10th gen base iPad for a far superior device it’s a bargain! Plus apple refurbished is basically a brand new device. M1 is overkill for majority of tasks.

ordered 3.00pm yesterday, came this morning at 10.30. Perfect condition, wouldn't know it was a refurb

We just bought an iPad air 4 from the refurb store. Might also be worth considering, slightly cheaper with a broadly similar spec, but comes with colour options. Never been disappointed with any of the refurb products from Apple.

This is a great deal but I'd get the M1 version instead in possible, to keep up with the Mac architecture

  36. geokarbou's avatar
Can see this one was released in 2020. How does it hold up now? I have an old 2017 32GB one that's on its last leg hahah and looking to upgrade but would want to keep it for another 5 years at least. Will this hold up fine for the next five years?

I only use it for media consumption and browsing so nothing crazy demanding like photo/video editing or other work stuff.
    triple888's avatar
This post is wrong. The 2nd gen was released in 2017.

I recently bought my dad the 2021 standard iPad Refurb for about £310.

He only uses it for basic stuff like social media and small games.

Is it worth returning that and getting this, value wise and future proof wise? Or is the £150 saving about right? (edited)
    helal94's avatar
Not if he doesn’t care about high refresh rate, better screen quality and better graphical performance. If he’s doing basic things, the 2021 standard iPad is fine for him.

    Is £900 a good price for grade A 6th gen 12.9 with the m2?
    Josh_Fletcher's avatar
Given the price increase of iPad pros that is a reasonable price. However I see Very are selling the MacBook air M1 for £869.00 (edited)
