I used to stay here every so often on work trips - the photo always makes me smirk as the entrance is actually a little up on the left and far less impressive! I think it may have had a refresh since I last stayed in which case ignore this comment, but back then it wasn't a particularly nice Travelodge - functional and clean enough, but like some of their older hotels it bordered on feeling more like a cell than a hotel room. I tended to use it when it was the cheapest option and I couldn't justify something more! (edited)

Yep, plus the cheapest prices are non-flexible non-refundable rates.
    Pay more for flexible rates.

Just looking at booking in Liverpool (as a change to Premier Inns where we have been recently) and see there is a saver rate of about £180, then another saver rate + breakfast + wifi, for about £42 more.

This is made up of £9 (for wi-fi) plus 'breakfast to go' at £33. My wife and i would be staying for 3 nights, so assuming this is 6 breakfasts, seems a decent price .. £5.50 each

Breakfast to go is a bowl of cornflakes, a pastry and an orange juice, it's not an unlimited breakfast. You can buy it from reception for £5.50 at any point in the day. You'd be better off getting something from greggs, if you want something in your room then bring a box of cornflakes with you instead.
