We stayed back in spring 2016 for exactly the same reason and couldn't fault the hotel, staff or location.

We stayed here last month (2 adults and 1 child) and we paid £45 for a family room for one night also to go the Eurostar to Disney in the morning. I was really worried after reading the reviews but our room was spot on, maybe we got lucky as it overlooked a quiet street at the back of the hotel, family room was very big for London and no noise issue. We paid £10 to check in early as standard check in is 3pm

In my description I clearly state I was looking for a London Hotel near St Pancras Station as a friend was catching the eurostar the next morning.... Yes I've done a simimar trip a couple of years ago. I was surprised travelodge was as cheap as it was a couple of years ago as from what I've generally noticed travelodge have got more expensive. Heck a few years ago I stayed in travelodge tower bridge for less than £19 per night.

It’s really confusing because in your OP you speak as if you’ve randomly found this deal for a random hotel almost a year in the future, but then later in the thread you respond in a way that heavy implies you’ve stayed there and done the exact trip already, yourself. It is somewhat confusing.

Did the job for us... Heads down for the night, up for breakfast before catching the 11am eurostar... Didn't fancy wirral to Liverpool to London to Paris all in 1 day with a young family... The location of this hotel is great for St Pancras station

Have you tried hotels in Morden, sutton and Croydon? They have transport links to Wimbledon and may be cheap.

Have u considered airbnb?

You are better off staying at the Premier Inn, its right next to the train station (trains are every half hour) and is virtually brand new and much nicer.

We always used to have a cheeky night in a travelodge on Christmas Eve (before we had kids)... worked out cheaper than getting a taxi home!

I think this is a brilliant deal...especially if you're visiting family that don't live close to you. I'm not a big Christmas fan, we dont really a couple nights away with me n my 2 boys over that period would be lovely ;)

If no one books these dates over Christmas, some extra staff who work there might get extra time off (cheeky)

Christmas in a travelodge? Depressing.

I noticed (through editing your search criteria!) that Cardiff is also really cheap for 23rd-24th December ... hope that helps someone!

As long as no one is forced to work there Xmas day and they're on at least triple pay then that's OK in my book

Did something similar at a Holiday Inn Express once. They advertised it as a "Christmas Package" complete with lunch. Luckily cancellation policy meant we could check out on Christmas Day and we moved to a hotel which was more Christmassy and had a great time. Costs us a couple hundred quid more but it was one of our most memorable family Christmas'

There's a 24 hour McDonalds just down the road from this Travelodge. And I believe it's one which opens on Christmas Day!

It's like A Christmas Carol in the future where you got it wrong...

If your driving, Dundee is less than an hour away and there is a few things to do and see round here now. Eg Swimming, Ice Skating, Pictures, V & A, a few shops, plenty eateries and even a few beaches not so far away including St Andrews if you fancy a New Year dip.

This is round the corner from Halbeath Park & Ride as well which provides a decent bus service to Edinburgh or up Dundee way.

Happy days, hopefully those visiting family over Xmas but with no spare beds will see this post then... Cheap as chips :)

A quick search and its not just Dunfermline that's dirt cheap over these 4 days for a family room. Hot.

Wont book again. Recently got email from Travelodge advising there survey company had a data breach and information on customers (including mine) was stolen. When I asked what action they would take - they basically told me not there problem. Take a risk on a cheap room with them - I think Ill pass.

Look like a good deal

What I’m saying is that they do overbook. You not going to realise or cause you any issue but they still do it, as they expect people not to turn up...

My experience of staying in about 25 different travelodges is that the staff are usually very helpful, that things are generally clean if a bit worn in places, and that you “get what you pay for” - if the room is a third of the price of the Hilton down the road, well it’s not going to be perfect, but it will be alright. It’s always best to ask for a quieter room, and of course they overbook, it’s standard practice in the travel business, and if one is planning to not arrive until say 10pm, then be sure to speak directly to the hotel to have a room saved or you might be the poor sod who’s the victim. Although I’ve never experienced overbooking, when I read negative comments about it the travelodge has usually been helpful in arranging an alternative nearby, perhaps paying transport costs, and so on. So whilst not ideal they have done their best to rectify. As for cost cutting, well that’s the way of the world. Whether it’s cheaper loo roll, cutting times for cleaning, overbooking a little more... standard practice. A lot of travelodge bookings are workers and professionals, moving around the country, sometimes teams of people. Often the number of rooms booked won’t quite match up to reality, so who wouldn’t slightly overbook? If I’m running a hotel and I have 29 rooms free and someone offers me a fat contract to book 30, well I will take the deal and then hope for one no-show or suffer dealing with one unhappy customer for 30 happy ones

Going to Gainsborough is like going to a 3rd world country but you don't feel sorry for the people that live there. Cus it is actually their choice

It isn’t really the sort of place you’d go to for NYE. It’s a village on the outskirts of Scunthorpe and Scunthorpe isn’t your NYE friend.

Just a little quote from Twitter: "Gainsborough. The arsehole of the entire world. I pity the rest of the world because of Gainsborough."

Travelodge are smart and it doesn't work like that. While there is a code used to book on the website, during check-in you need to present a "Thanks Card" which Travelodge staff are all given to prove you are allowed the discounted rate. You'd presume if one isn't presented you either have to pay the full amount or get told to sod off. Staff can get friends and family members special prices but they have to book and pay via a special website and not the main website. Most of the time it's more expensive than the main website as there are limited rooms and any promotions don't apply to this site. The few times I've needed to stay in a hotel without my girlfriend I've stayed with other hotel chains because they were cheaper than Travelodge. But if I'm with the girlfriend we get some real bargains, for example we've got a 3 night stay coming up for under £45 (highfive)

Damn If I saw this earlier I'd ask for a special code (lol)

I couldn’t use the code online, but managed to use it over the blower and booked a room for this coming Saturday. They charge an agent fee of like £2.50, but still cheaper than full price.

Whatever, you petty little man. I'm trying to help folk with some info and you're you being a jerk, so we can call this conversation over now as you have nothing positive to add to the discussion.

He didn't say everyone make note you'll have to pay it, it was meant in the way of if you'd do this and take a car just remember to look into the parking costs. Stop being so argumentative and appreciate that someone was trying to help with an additional consideration.

You did say it outright. Also: "The reason I mentioned it" "I'd taken a similar deal" "would have been cheaper if I'd booked another hotel that included parking" It's all about your personal decision to take a car with you. It's not a cost that everybody should "remember to factor in".

I was implying no such thing. You may have taken it that way, but that's your problem. If I'd said that you had to pay then I'd have said it outright. The phrase "remember to factor in" seems pretty self-explanatory. It would make no sense to pay extra if you're not bringing car with you. The reason why I mentioned it in the first place was that I'd taken a similar deal a year or two ago and ended up paying over the odds for parking. I would have been cheaper if I'd booked another hotel that included parking, or at least pre-booked the parking to make it a bit cheaper

Your post stated: "Also remember to factor in £20 per day parking at NCP, if parking isn't included in this deal, which I don't think it is." The post is about paying Travelodge for two nights in a hotel. You're implying that it actually costs £40 more than the OP has suggested, when actually what you mean is that it will cost you £40 more because you will want to take a car.

Just stayed in Bristol Travelodge...keeps the scum out of Ibis.

Staying at London for £39 is a steal

Not in central London at all, it's in St Luke's (LB of Islington, close to The City). Still a good deal though for a visit, will be 30-45 minutes from most places as close to Moorgate, Old Street and Liverpool Street stations (for the Met and Circle Lines, Northern Line City Branch, and Central Line).

No problem... That's a great price for a 3 night weekend in Central London imo

Too far to walk from festival twice a day. Take longer if drunk and busy. If you don’t wish to sleep in a regular tent then pay extra for posher glamping. Whilst at Glastonbury we are only in tents for few hours kip as lots of stuff going on.

A quick check on google maps shows that the travelodge is 6.24 miles from the pyramid stage in a perfect straight line. Or a 2 hour 24 minute walk and thats ignoring all the festival based restrictions. You could get a taxi, but this isn't realistic to walk.

Flushing toilets can be found up by the medical tent but you'd have to get there from wherever you are and long queues. They no longer use portaloos +other than in the car parks). Long drops and compost toilets are inside. There are showers but you'd need to get up very early and queue or miss out on acts during the day. Or you could use wet wipes, anti- bacterial spray and dry shampoo. You could go in a mobile home but would need to buy one as hire firms will not rent them for Glastonbury.

Thanks Op.
