Worth noting that you can mix and match this code with the following products, so long as you have 3 of the below in your basket.

Never used smart bulbs before. When it says dimmable, does that mean you can ask alexa to dim the light. And how does it work - I leave the light switch switched on and then ask alexa to turn it on or off? Is that right?

Also does anyone know what 7W is equivalent to 'in old money'... 60w, 100w?

Sorry for all the dinosaur questions!

Yes, Alexa will set the brightness to virtually any level.

Yes, you leave it on at the switch and use voice or the Hue or Alexa app to control it. I make a little box to stick over the wall switches until you get used to not reaching for them

I’d say 7w is pretty high, so closer to 60W.

You’re asking exactly the right questions, no worries.

Great price! I paid more than this for the Lidl Zigbee compatibles (which are glitchy compared to these, but fine for the use case - conservatory).

Will this work with Phillips Hue Dimmer switch? Thanks in advance

I’m pretty sure they would. That’s my intention too. They are dimmable, smart and Hue branded, so using them with a Hue dimmer switch should be a no brainer.

I take it these are better to use with out a light shade and don't have glare?

I have a Phillips white clouded one and it's a little bright, but I figure fillinent may be better.

I wondered the same thing, but I think it also depends on the shape of the bulb itself. These bulbs are an attempt to re-create the kind of light you get from an old filament bulb, so I would personally use them in a lampshade when they are the same shape as the old bulbs.

However, some versions of these have much larger bulbs, or the old elongated shape from the early part of the 20th century. I think those ones are probably intended to be used without a shade, as a design feature.
