VRAM has never been cheaper, this has a greedy tiny GPU chiplet (should have been at least 33% bigger) and runs as a furnace as a result. Power management is broken on chiplet RDNA3 (they had this issue for a year with RDNA1- RDNA2 was great from day one). Support outside new AAA games ain't great.

In other words, this is priced so disgustingly and unjustifiably high entirely on the back of Ngreedia's attempt to reprogram GPU prices. It blows my mind to think there is anyone so foolish as to lay down a grand for this work-in-progress tech. AMD has some truly amazing products, CPU, APU, GPU, coming next gen around the end of 2023 into 2024. This year's current stuff just ain't so good, and should be bought on price only if at all.

Totally agree that Nvidia and AMD are BS pricing all GPUs.

"AMD has some truly amazing products, CPU, APU, GPU, coming next gen around the end of 2023 into 2024"

Sounds like hyperbole to me. How do we know they are truly amazing when they haven't been released and tested? The reality is they sound promising but they haven't yet lived up to their promise. They will be truly amazing when they deliver what they state they will deliver and it's significantly better than the competition. This is data we don't yet have.

I would still pay 150 more for a 4080 but then both are grotesquely overpriced so looks like I am sitting this round out. Unless something interesting happens price wise.

So you're saying you wouldn't pay £150 more then

Just returned a white one of these from overclockers, due to coil whine, I'm not overly sensitive to noise, but this thing sounded like I'd trapped a rattlesnake in my PC, it was excessive even by modern standards. Looking around after the fact, many of the user reviews for this card on amazon, and places like reddit complain of the same thing.

Here's a video, make sure you adjust your volume, so the mouse click noise sounds normal, and you'll hear roughly what I was hearing. This is running Final Fantasy XIV, locked to 144fps, 3440 x 1440, max settings. Far from taxing this card, I click into the game, then out for comparison.

Not going to vote hot or cold, as other than my subjective issues, this is a great price. (edited)

Modern GPUs for you, I've not had one without coil whine from this generation. Had two of these (reference) and three 4090s and all have coil whine.

Imagine returning this would be expensive. Not worth the risk.

This is just a no at this price. Only heat here is the power usage.

The 4080 is more efficient, has better upscaling, has frame generation, has way better ray tracing, way better driver support, all for an extra £160. The 7900XTX is a great card but it's overpriced compared to the competition.
    Hunterx878's avatar
    Hunterx878
Yes sir. The 4080 should be no-more than 1k, the XTX should be 800 or less.

Could this be plugged into a 32amp hot tub socket? And would this be cheaper to run?

That’s a great price. I returned the 7900 XT and I’m looking now maybe to get an XTX.

if it was the Red Devil I will jump to this like mad but I don’t like the aesthetics of the hellhound… I’ll think about it. In any case that’s OP!

2024/25, but they will probably be just as expensive. Moors law is slowing down so consumers aren’t upgrading as often. due to this I believe prices will stay high so Nvidia/AMD can keep the same profits. It will probably be this way until more competition enters the market

Is it possible undervolt these cards to get much lower power/heat without losing too much performance? (edited)
