Can I cancel my father's £77 a month deal and then take this out from the same address in my name? What would be the process? I don't want to be weeks without a connection!
    Ash9694's avatar
Yeah! Can even use his bank account too, not sure on the best way to go about setting it up but you need to give 30 days notice on existing account, if you can pick your new install date when you take this out, just get it for the same or next day, also you will get a new wifi router, to make things easier rename the ssid and change the password on the new router to be the same as your old router then you won’t have to reconnect all your devices

There is a bit of a glitch for existing customers, whereby you can lock whatever you currently pay in a new 18 month contract

When I spoke to retentions about cancelling due to the price rise, they offered me a reduction of £6 which brought my current bill down to £11 but it would have gone up to £21 after the increase next month. I've now locked that £11 in for 18 months

You can access the upgrades page via the Virgin Media app

Just dumped Virgin and are now with YouFibre, If Virgin were not too greedy would have stayed
    Sohail-A's avatar
Likewise mate, I halved my bill when opting for NowTv at £21pm and if im honest it's been 14months and I don't miss Virgin or any of the fibre offering

I signed up for HyperOptic's 150Mb/s deal for £20 per month a week ago but this seems better. Should I cancel HO and go for this? It's only £4 per month extra for much faster speeds, although the negative VM reviews put me off.
    Chigz_'s avatar
It'd be a no from me. HyperOptic will be much more stable in the long run.

Edit: By stable I mean reliable and no price rises. (edited)

    shambles of a company

they can't get their act together in central london. TV is permanently "out of service" and internet cuts out several times a day, with even more slow-downs to sub 1Mbps!

    Worst internet company out there.
    bargainhunter666's avatar
Yet you came into a VM post to post. They got you.

Just got rid of them and ripped the cable out of the garden. Retentions were so desperate it got to the point of £5/ month for M250 but I told them I wouldn't stay if it was free. Now with BRSK. Rock solid ping, no latency issues and no mid term price rises.

    £5 for M250?
I would have stayed for that price.
  8. daz40's avatar
I already have this deal but paying £28 a month I wonder if I can get the better price ?
    gravyvessel1's avatar
Not if your mid contract. I was mid contract last month, but as they amended the terms to include the new inflation price rises, which wouldn't have actually affected my price until April 2024, I initiated the cancellation period and waited for a retentions deal that was splendid.

Let's just say they are sticklers for ruthlessly obeying contract terms VM, so you have to play them at their own game. (edited)

I am tempted as still waiting for my Vodafone order - Openreach is terrible they missed appointment on 19th April (no one showed up) next one on 23rd of May (edited)
    absami's avatar
Don’t forget to ask for compensation for missed appointment and additional days you have to wait (edited)

I had a reasonably good experience with virgin, till i wanted to leave, then it reminded me of the lyrics from hotel California "You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave" absolute nightmare getting shut. Never again!
    aLV426's avatar
Ok, I'm having a real feeling of déjà vu. That's the 4th reference to Hotel California I have had today!
  11. Danny_Brown's avatar
Something goes wrong with them it's a nightmare I had a 7 page complaint letter with the main issue was they disconnected my internet for no reason and it took 3 weeks and countless phonecalls in which they were trying to force me to sign a new contract a twice the price I wouldn't wish there customer service on my worst enemy you get passed over and over to different operators for someone to just leave you on hold they disconnect the call

Cannot wait to get rid of Virgin. ...currently paying £72pm for 350mb broadband....taking up the Toob deal of 900mbs for £25pm on 18 month contract with guarantee no price rise in the 18month period.
    harry0206's avatar
    Link please, thankyou
  13. desi_lad's avatar
Have ordered. Though it says no set up fee, they have added up £30 for set up on first bill.
    king84's avatar
Did you order the kit or ask for a technician to install? I ordered the kit and have no extra charges.
  14. AdrianZamescu's avatar
Is mandatory to have O2 ?
    AbbasTheJinn's avatar
No O2 Sims are sold as part of volt packages which double the speed you're paying for, and also allows you to order the free WiFi pods for problematic black spots within your property
  15. FamousGrouse's avatar
You really can get better prices by playing hard ball with them. Took a bit of effort but I'm now down to £14.40 for 250mb for the rest of my contract

Were you on an existing contract with them before and just got them to upgrade you midway through your contract? With a discount?
  16. Danny_Brown's avatar
Worst customer service experience I've ever had also ping was awful
    bargainhunter666's avatar
Unlucky. I thought 19ms with Openreach was good but I'm getting less than 8ms! With VM.
Got full works for£70 a saving of over £100 a month re my old sky and BT deal. Rip off Britain.
  17. Bazallworks's avatar
I'm going to look into this myself later but my 18 months with virgin have just finished (and I've already been charged one month at £57 quid - eep). I assume I can just get them to switch me to this rate for another 18 months?
    Mohibulla-Khan's avatar
I highly doubt it, virgin only really give offers to new customers and would only give a few pounds of a discount if u threatened to leave. I would recommend moving to a different service provider who have new customer deals. Then you can move back to virgin. Keep repeating this and you will keep getting the good deals.
  18. anthony69's avatar
For comparison, existing customer just renewed my contract and i'm now paying £27 for 1GB broadband, MixIT TV incl (6 channel recording), and phone line. (edited)
    Mohibulla-Khan's avatar
Sounds like a really good deal, whos your managed service provider?
  19. CyptoHippy's avatar
I am paying £57 for M350 broadband only. I tried to renew today was offered

    M350 - £42
    M250 - £46
    M125 - £40

So I handed my notice in and will look at alternative perhaps Plusnet or Now Broadband not sure at the but want to keep it below £30 a month.

Heat - out of contract with Vodafone who would don't budge on price and wanted 24 months.
Sometimes is best of the worst until FTTH is in our area.

Mine works out £2.95 a month after all discounts, account credit and referrals for same package

I am impressed. That should be the normal price to be honest. OK, may be £5 max

Getting my setup box delivered tomorrow... M250 for £32 a month with £90 bill credit. I'll try to phone them after the bank holiday and hopefully they'll be able to match this deal

Have you got a spare flux capacitor for my Time Machine

Don't forget to find someone with virgin already to get the referral discount added to this!
    bomodo's avatar
How much is the referral discount? Just to calculate it in the mix, as it might become an appealing offer

Recently switched from Virgin Fibre M250 to Three 5G, I pay £20 a month (first 3 months we’re free) and it’s head and shoulders above Virgin, which I was paying much more for. I’ve always been told ‘Virgin is the best for speed and reliability’ etc but it absolutely is not. (edited)
    Sharon_DoddsRiA's avatar
Really?I was led to believe the same about virgin,my contracts just come to a end.
  30. standishmark's avatar
Went from virgin for years, to three 5g. £18/m av 500mbps Well worth seeing if your close to a mast you can get 1gbps. Router position is key, can lose half speed even if its slighy in the wrong place. Best place not mean closest window to the mast
    ariecol's avatar
How do you check the location of the mast?

In ofcom website, it is reported I will have 5g but on 3 website it is otherwise
  31. king84's avatar
Do you have to pay the additional £19 phone line rental on top of these advertised prices?
    AbbasTheJinn's avatar
No what you see in the final order form is your monthly payment, just remember the first 2 months are paid upfront
  32. twincam16valve's avatar
I am looking at their ultimate volt bundle (£85). Is it worth it? How can I get this package for a cheaper price. I have spoken to their abysmal customer service and all they offered was £50 credit. Any help is much appreciated.
    bargainhunter666's avatar
Well do you want the £25 O2 SIM? No then cancel it.
  33. nabz150's avatar

I cancelled 1 month ago my £69 a month, out of contract. Next day disconnections team offered me only £59 for same package, which I declined. Did not hear anything back or another phone call from retentions. Called up today (with 1 day to disconnection) and said cant go through to retentions as no time, will have to go through sales and sign up as new customer. So gave my wife's details and best they could give me was my same package for £36.99 but will have to take out an O2 sim for extra £12. Hoping to cancel the sim as soon as it comes. I have seen people get insane deals on hukd but I just given up with this company and customer service. No customer loyalty as i had been with them for 6.5 yrs! So had to accept this as shown in pic. Still better than £69!

Anyone order it ? I receive just router and no phone . Unable to register on their app as well . But internet work spot on
    AbbasTheJinn's avatar
The phone line is the grey ports on the router itself, you would've received an adaptor to plugin to make this work
