sorted by- Have both can't honestly tell , if it is it's only slightly faster
- dammit, i paid £65 just last weekYou could order this and "return" that "one" 😏
- Was £32.99 on 11/07/22 - prime dayStill a decent price here though IMO
- Tempted as I have a 1st Gen and a couple of 2nd Gen ones that are less than 'fast', mainly use my Roku tbh but the Luna app now interests me.
Bah - bought as got additional 20% off plus £2.99 for my old 1st Gen FireTV stick so £28.20 paid. Thanks OP. (edited)I tried with my 2nd Gen Fire TV Stick and they only offered £0.99. - Traded an old fire stick I've had sitting in the loft for the last 5 years and got the 20% off. Somehow the total price with trade in made the 4k max fire stick £24.19. BARGAIN!Hi, how do you go about trading in an old device? Thanks very much.
Actually, just found the link: Amazon.co.uk: Fire Trade-In: Trade-In which may be useful for other peeps!
Fire TV stick - 1st and 2nd generation =£2.99 Amazon credit.
Thanks for pointers from other peeps! Here's the 20% trade-in link from the Amazon site (which gives a greater saving that the usual Amazon process mentioned above):
(edited) - If you have the 4K (non-Max) is this a worthy upgrade? Never really felt the 4K was slow, though the earlier Fire Sticks definitely do feel sluggish now and our Smart TV functions are all but useless so the 4K is much better than built-in TV apps. I guess it will support Amazon Pickup for the voucher too?Not worth the upgrade mate if you already own a 4k stick
- Do you need the AC adapter for this or can it run directly from the TVs USB? Amazon show an add-on to power it like that but i can't see the purposeThe 'Mission power adapter' allows you to power the Fire Stick from any TV's USB power port, which typically supplies only 500mA-1A.
Plugged directly via a USB power cable to a TV, the Fire Stick will not work as that amperage is not sufficient when it requires the full 9W power during power-intensive activity e.g. during power-up; however the Mission adapter contains a battery which boosts the output to the Fire Stick whenever it demands the full 9W, and is always kept trickle charged by the TV's output.
Quite a neat solution, and according to reviews actually works. it ain't cheap, but if you cannot run a separate USB power to the Stick, or don't want to due to aesthetics, I suppose it's worth it. This way you can hide both the power and HDMI connections behind the TV. (edited) - Do these work with older tv’s?It works with any tv which has an hdmi input. You can also buy hdmi to scart converter from ebay £5 (edited)
- Is this worth getting if you don’t have a 4K tvDo you need a Fire stick? If yes, then at this price c/w the 20% discount, you have a fire stick you can use now, and if/when you get a 4k TV. (edited)
- Can't believe anyone would buy a firestick over a decent android box. Cheap for a reason. You won't find a better android box over this for this price anywhere.
- Amazing deal! One thing to keep in mind is that not all buttons on remote work will all tvs.
I've got 65 inch TCL tv and power, volume up and down and some others do not work with this tv.
I had my remote replaced by amazon as I initially thought that remote is broken but that did not help. Then I found on the internet that this is happening sometimes and it should be easy to fix by changing settings but it didn't work for me.There is an option in the fire tv stick settings that you need to enable.
Have TCL too, it didn't work before but I changed it - Weird, I have a £5 credit for collecting from locker but it doesn't seem to work on this.Same here when I selected the locker option it never took off £5 so I just opted for the regular deliver. What a jip! that promo ended up being.
- It might sound like a silly question, but I have an LG tv from 2020. Is the fire stick going to offer any improvement over built-in tv features? And what improvements would those be?Absolutely! Private message me when you get it.Ill tell you the secrets.Amazon admin might be in here lol
- This or the fire cube @ £139? (edited)Rather a Nvidia shield at that price.
- I am after another fire cube, not paying silly money what Amazon are asking.Get a stick then!
- Strange not on sale in Argos yet?Yeah they always seem to follow amazon or vise versa sometimes
- Great deal! I loved my Firestick until recently. More content on Plex is becoming unplayable due to the following issue:
github.com/goo…096
Related to DV & HDR10+ content... It's making me want to get an alternative since I don't foresee it changing, at least anytime soonSeems like that bug is fixed in kodi but most other players it’s an issue, I’m sure they is a plex plugin for kodi, that might be a temporary solution until plex devs decide to fix it - Does it support Dolby Atmos on Disney, prime and netflix apps? Is it a seamless experience?Yes it does. Just tested it on both.
- For the trade in, is it just the stick you need to send or do you need to send in remote too? (edited)Asked for both when I applied
- I have a 4k Sony Bravia A80J. What am I missing if I don’t have this? (edited)Alexa assistant so nothing
- any benefit from getting it at Argos at the same price (eg: warranty etc)?Nectar Points
- Hi guys, I need some help and advice please….I’ve just started to watch OTHER CHANNELS on my firestick….but I’m new to all this but new I needed a vpn so I downloaded the HOLA Free vpn and signed up with my Apple ID….but the only problem is I’m not sure how to use it…. …..I’ve just downloaded a app called BEETV which is great and has loads of great content….but back to my hola vpn the question is I don’t know which country I need to select when using this beetv app on the vpn it just shows a power button in the centre of my tv screen and asks me to select which country I need…trouble is I don’t know 🤷♀️…..help….(confused)VPNs are always a good thing to have even if you don't "need" it and especially if you have a *cough* TV 🔥 subscription . Country doesn't matter but I'll be honest the best VPNs I've used on my stick are Nord and Surfshark. Feel free to DM if you'd like a free Nord VPN trial.
- Perfect timing, my Now TV box has now said it will no longer support Disney + so this will be a great replacement.
- Does this improve the wifi bandwidth with the Wifi 6 support? I’m using my 4K for IPTV and it often buffers with the higher quality feeds - I bought an adapter but it seems they are limited to 100mbps. I am hoping this is better? Would be worth upgrading for me at this price in that caseDoes your router support wi fi 6?
- Anyone else having trouble accessing the trade-in menu? Clicking 'Get Deal' shows a '20% off trade-in' link that only offers a very limited selection of devices, & doesn't even list the older 1st or 2nd gen stick I wish to trade-in. Any help or further links would be appreciated. You might have better luck following this link amazon.co.uk/b/r…490 alternatively if you still have the sticks you want to trade in they won’t show on the normal get deal link if you have de registered them. You can plug them back in and reregister them and they should show up. Had to do it for my old fire tv box but didn’t get credited the discount straight away so decided to just bite the bullet on the chance that the offer may have ended before they received it and I’ll just give the fire tv box to a neighbour or someone. Don’t think you can trade the 4Ks in as the offer is 20 percent off any 4K current models but I could be wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time
(edited) - Do Fire TV sticks share settings? I mean, if I set up one Fire stick with my logins to the various streaming apps, will that carry over to another one if I buy and plug that onto another TV? or will I have to login to each app on a new one?Wishful thinking - no.
- As I found yesterday, yes, the apps are copied over, but not the logins, which is very tedious……
- Still rocking a 1st gen 4k stick in the kitchen. Debloated and 3rd party launcher using plex, eyepeetv and smart tube next it's real smooth with zero issues.
I doubt I'd see a difference if I upgraded and don't think you can use alternative launchers on current hardware anyway and I sure wouldn't want to put up with the amazon launcherHow did you go about Debloating it is there a tutorial and do you need a certain firmware - Great device, better than the Chromecasts IMOIt’s wifi6 compatible so no brainier, it should be the fastest device in the market, however its bottlenecked by Amazon bloatware. Chromecast is cheaper and better than regular Firestick though, especially when HD is all you need. All the bells and whistles are required for 4K and home cinema, but then Nvidia and Apple should be the top choices. Horses for courses.
- Heat added for the price but I still don't see the point in this. Don't most 4k smart TVs have these apps alreadySome of them can run very sluggish also can't side load stuff if it isn't running on android (edited)
- These are trash for memory 5-6 apps and goneActually, BestDealFinder, there is a way for you to add more Apps, but it does cost money.
I've just checked my Firestick 4K and I have 77 Apps installed.
Check out these videos on YouTube to see how to add storage to your Firestick. (It doesn't work with the 'bog standard' 1st Generation Firesticks.) - 100mbps get an Nvidia shield to pump high quality plexincorrect
- Bsrgain!! In my basket!
For the first time in a while I have been patient and not 'just bought it'
This could be a new me.... - Kind of tempted to upgrade from 4k. Will there be an even newer version out soon though? This has been out for a few years already right?Need to change to USB C IMO
- Annoyingly in the US they have a discount code which takes off another $10
androidpolice.com/fir…uy/ (edited) - Cheers OP!
I remembered I had a £50 gift card to use up so ordered 2, trade in 1x first gen, only technically cost me £17ish for them both 🤘 - Can you do screen mirroring from both Android and Apple devices onto this?I mirror with Android,
- I have 4 of these!
- Finally gone for it! (just wait for the new supermodel to be released next month!!) Had an old fire stick 1st gen to trade (takes 20% off) So let's hope this lives up to the hype
- Perfect timing, my 1st Gen Stick has been driving me crazy lately (I actually complained to Amazon web chat support about it at the weekend & they added a 15% discount onto my account towards Fire products so got this for £33.14) Thanks OP
