In answer to your question, yes it's a far superior set with 120Hz QLED display compared to a 50Hz LED Display.

Is there a good value 75inch mini LED version?
Are LG comparable in picture quality?
    Ta!!
    i_need_bargains's avatar
Not really unless you go for Hisense (best avoided). Equivalent would be the LG Nano 8 Series but they use IPS panels, I would say Samsung is better than LG for LED TVs.

Does this need a soundbar to enhance sound?
    Searching4deals1234's avatar
I don’t know a single telly that doesn’t. The speakers are designed to give a sound not a experience.

A cracking deal and a really good price, especially the high refresh rate (100).

Personally I do not touch QLED. You either go OLED or buy the cheapest. QLED is a step between and in my opinion not great. I spent a whole day comparing them in person and all the QLED TVs were miles behind. Samsung by far was the best though.
    crack_shot's avatar
    wrong on all counts
OLEDs are too dim for bright rooms
there is still no OLED that can go full screen brightness over 250 nits, even entry level QLEDs are 500 nits at full screen brightness
auto dimming is an awful side effect of using OLEDs, where screens becoming awfully dark to stop any burn in risk.

Samsung don't make the best QLEDs anymore, not even close. TCL have made an QLED this year, for china only that has 5000 dimming zones and 5000 nits brightness
when we are talking about 5000 dimming zones on a TV, suddenly OLEDs are becoming irrelevant- there contrast advantage is no longer an advantage

since film can be mastered upto 4000 nits, this might be the only TV out there that can show the true cinematic intent
  23. crack_shot's avatar
    IPS screen = terrible contrast
48 dimming zones = you will see blooming everywhere when it gets darker
doesn't get to 1000 nits which should be a minimum to enjoy HDR content

Samsung used to make the Q80 series as a damn good upper mid ranger, but this feels like a low mid range set

    Its cheap though.
    i_need_bargains's avatar
All European versions of the Q80B have VA panels according to rting.com

More dimming zones doesn't necessarily mean better e.g. Sony TVs don't have as many zones compared to fully array sets from Samsung or even Hisense but their backlight control and implementation of local dimming is superior.

You can still enjoy good HDR without needing to go above 1000 nits. (edited)
