Should hopefully work well to connect my Apple TV, XBox and Blu-ray player to my soundbar.
Tested Apple TV, 4K Blu-Ray and Xbox Series X and getting all the Dolby bells and whistles (Vision, Atmos etc) passed through without issue.
That's unless you really into Jumanji the Game or Centipede Recharged
If I plug this into the soundbar that would mean I can have 3 devices that will work with full surround sound right?
Technically you can do 8k120hz (4:2:2) but you need display stream compression supported on the source and the display, as 8k120hz is 129gbps and hdmi 2.1 is limited to 48gbps, so content has to be compressed in order to fit.
4k120hz using RGB uses 40gbps, 4k120hz at 4:2:2 chroma subsampling is 32gbps.
8k60 RGB is 80gbps so that won't fit either, normal 8k60 is run as 4:2:0 (10bit HDR) and is 40.1gbps. (edited)
That's about a hundred grand isn't it?
surely in most cases it would be better to get an AVR which will have HDMI switching built in!
