Absolute bargain. Best adapter I’ve used. Works well and you can just plug it direct to your tv. Went through loads of awful cheap adapters and either had issues with CEC or no auto switching or didn’t do all hdmi 2.1 features. This one has been pretty much flawless.
    Piperatdawn71's avatar
With you saying it’s 2.1 hdmi it should be running at 120hz then?
Just posted this as a question

Denon and Marantz are the same company; D&M Holdings and this is the same unit, different badge

Marantz and Denon are owned by the same parent company so no surprise they are identical

Anyone know if this supports 4k120, VRR, dolby vision etc?

edit: seems to support 4k120 but can't find anything about VRR, DV
edit 2: still nothing about VRR, but :
Q12. Does the HDMI switcher support HDR pass-through?
A12. Yes, the HDMI switcher supports HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dynamic HDR passthrough.

Q13. Does the HDMI switcher support Dolby Vision?
A13. Officially no, however, we confirmed Dolby Vision passthrough works without issue.
as per this page support-uk.denon.com/app…s-3 (edited)

I have a question... does it take 2.1…
    Tom_Garrett's avatar
Yep ! But only up to 40bgs not the theoretical maximum of 48gbs

So if I plug this into a hdmi socket on my tv does that mean I'll be able to connect an extra 2 devices like firestick google etc.
    nsx2050's avatar
    yes
  7. N1Andy's avatar
Does this need to be powered? I don't really want yet another plug and cable behind the tv
    powerbrick's avatar
It's 5v USB so you may be able to power it from the TV.

I did not know Denon made devices like this.

Nice, was mulling this at £99 but have to bite at less than half that price.

Should hopefully work well to connect my Apple TV, XBox and Blu-ray player to my soundbar.

Red hot, thank you, was never going to pay £200 for one of these so been waiting for a deal for a while.

Received today and all set up.

Tested Apple TV, 4K Blu-Ray and Xbox Series X and getting all the Dolby bells and whistles (Vision, Atmos etc) passed through without issue.
  13. MrFerret's avatar
Much better than the average ebay ones!

    No problem 😁😁😁

So, using this I can connect both a Series X and PS5 to the TV using just one port? I have an A95K so aside from the EARC port I have only one remaining high speed port.
    gg1pl's avatar
PS5 has 8 4k/120hz games and they're old, arcade or rubbish games that don't benefit from HDMI 2.1 anyway.

That's unless you really into Jumanji the Game or Centipede Recharged

Someone said what's the point of this over a HDMI switcher? But I get its partly this is good quality (does HDMI 2.1 @40Gbps) and will work and has a remote? But £40? Or even £100 full price. What am I missing.
    powerbrick's avatar
link to an alternative with the same specs and cheaper then please.

I just ordered one. Can I use this to extend the HDMI IN ports of Denon AV receiver? (edited)
  22. samsun's avatar
I have a 5.0 soundbar with rears that only has 1 port and my TV doesn't pass 5.1 through to it so I only get surround from the device plugged directly into the soundbar.

If I plug this into the soundbar that would mean I can have 3 devices that will work with full surround sound right?
    Coxy32's avatar
    Also in the same boat
  23. jaffamuffin's avatar
Shames theres no audio breakout even if just stereo.
    anuruddha's avatar
What did you expect from that? You can use any hdmi audio extractor. (edited)
  24. Piperatdawn71's avatar
Anyone know with it been 8K if it’s running in 120hz or the older 60hz?
    Jonwillis's avatar
    Hdmi 2.1 maximum is 4k120hz or 8k60hz.

Technically you can do 8k120hz (4:2:2) but you need display stream compression supported on the source and the display, as 8k120hz is 129gbps and hdmi 2.1 is limited to 48gbps, so content has to be compressed in order to fit.

    4k120hz using RGB uses 40gbps, 4k120hz at 4:2:2 chroma subsampling is 32gbps.

8k60 RGB is 80gbps so that won't fit either, normal 8k60 is run as 4:2:0 (10bit HDR) and is 40.1gbps. (edited)

iv had 2 of these and had problems with both, sometimes i would get a flicker to a black screen, other times it wouldnt connect at all, tried different hdmi cables including certified but it still wouldnt always work, i now own a different brand that has been flawless for the last 6 months
    anuruddha's avatar
Why didn't you try the warranty replacement? It's impossible to have a fault on both boxes unless it came from the same faulty batch.
  26. PeacePipe's avatar
    Three 8K devices!
    That's about a hundred grand isn't it?
    anuruddha's avatar
You can use 720p/1080p/1440p/4k/8k with this switch. So don't worry just buy it. I spend more than this to buy a 4k switch from Amazon. This is a bargain.

  28. mac5229james's avatar
maybe im missing something, but why would you need this.

surely in most cases it would be better to get an AVR which will have HDMI switching built in!
    iby2012's avatar
Having just googled AVR, probably the cost? Seems to be a lot more then this?
